Environmental Restoration Project (Friends of the Earth) (Utsugidai Bus Stop (20 minutes from Hino (Chuuou), 15 minutes, 2014)

This Rhinoceros Beetle was found during an environmental project of Friends of the Earth in Hino (an easily accessible area in Tokyo’s western suburb). This project takes place monthly. The people are welcoming and knowledgeable about the plant and animal life in the area. And the land they run has various food crops (plums, yuzu (a kind of citrus fruit), chestnuts, mushrooms, etc.) Great chance to do some good work in nature for nature, learn about Tokyo’s natural environment, and meet some interesting folk.

I'd like to introduce a new Series for the project, called Super News! Times are rough (couldn't leave all bad things back in 2020 I guess), so the idea is to focus on pieces of good news at the beginning of the week to end the weekend on a good note, and help mitigate some of those Monday Blues! Don't worry, I'll still be posting good news posts throughout the week, these will just have a different format than regular posts (similar to Quick Facts). 😊🌎
