How IoT can help expose environmental crime?

Let's start with a definition of an environmental crime. It may be extremely broad, covering different immoral and/or illegal activities like wildlife trading, unregulated fishing and dumping hazardous waste. But what`s important is that environmental crime is a big problem for the whole world. And therefore the Netherlands that is a small country is planning to do something about it.

Pollution is a big problem

Eco crimes: transnational, organised and serious

Here's a brief film I produced for EIA-WWF-TRAFFIC to be screened at a side event, organised by UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), at the 22nd session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ) in Vienna in April 2013. EIA and several other organisations pushed for the CCPCJ to expand the work of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime to address illicit trafficking in protected species of wild fauna and flora, treating it as a serious transnational organised crime such as the drugs trade and human trafficking.
