Some of the kings of Rohan :)
@gondorweek Day 2
"This oath shall stand in memory of the glory of the Land of the Star, and of the faith of Elendil the Faithful, in the keeping of those who sit upon the thrones of the West and of the One who is above all thrones for ever." - Oath of Cirion
Kind of crazy how much the Oath of Cirion and Eorl sounds like wedding vows, Gondor and Rohan literally promised god to stay true to each other through sickness and health. Use this more in Boromir/Theodred content.
Eorl the Young when he is ready to swear the Oath of Eorl and bind the Rohirrim to Gondor in a pact of everlasting friendship:
“Then he drew his sword and cast it up shining in the sun, and catching it again he stepped forward and laid the blade upon the mound…”
Éomer when he realizes on the Pelennor Fields that the black-sailed ships at the harbor are captained by Aragorn and not the enemy:
“And then wonder took him, and a great joy; and he cast his sword up into the sunlight and sang as he caught it.”
Half a millennium later and the House of Eorl is still celebrating momentous occasions by throwing deadly pointed weapons high into the air and catching them again like a bunch of circus performers. I feel like Leod and Éomund should have taught their sons to be a little more careful (“you’ll put your eye out!”) except those two yahoos both got killed through their own recklessness, so really our guys had no other choice but to turn out this way!

Sing Thy Memories, Take My Hand

‘You have returned to Middle-earth for Maglor Fëanorion, you said?’ Elrond asks. ‘Yes, I am to beckon him come back to Valinor at last,’ Fingon answers hopefully. Few others had been willing to return to Middle-earth, and Fingon had already saved a Fëanorian cousin before. That made him more qualified for this task than most.

Obscure Tolkien Blorbo: Round 1
Eorl vs Meássë
Eorl:
Known as “the Young” because he became Lord of the Éothéod at only sixteen. Founder of Rohan.
Taming an untameble horse and demanding he carry him as a weregild for killing his father? What's not to love?
Meássë:
A warrior Vala from an early draft of the legendarium, sister of Makar.
She's described as being fierce and having bloody arms and i just think that's neat
She's a warrior Vala with bloody arms who thinks Valinor is for the Valar only. Silmarillion Valar are way too squeaky clean. Meássë makes them much messier and more interesting.
Who is your blorbo?
Eorl
Meássë
