Anakin's Issue

Ahsoka knows he needs to change. She knows he’s the keystone, even if Palpatine has contingencies, Anakin falling is his main plan

But she has to figure out how to get that to happen.

The issue with Anakin in the canon lore is that he chose to do everything he did. He chose to become a jedi (despite his issues, it was still his choice), he chose to give into attachment and find his mom, he chose to massacre those tuskers. He chose to get married, he chose attachment again and again, he chose anger, violence, hatred. He chose the path he went down, straight to the end, where he committed genocide against his family, killed his padawan and master. Anakin became Darth Vader because he wanted to. No one forced him into that path, palpatine may have had years of influencing, but in the end, Anakin could have still said “no. I will not betray the people I love, the life I have lived, for you.” But he didnt. He chose to help kill mace, he chose to march on the temple and slaughter younglings. Anakin looked the dark in the face for years, but on that night, he CHOSE to say “yes. I will give in”

Ahsoka might not know all of the issues he went through, or even any of them, but she has to come to terms with both. Anakin isn’t perfect, which she knows because of the time travel, but she still has to come to terms with the fact that he chose to avoid the people offering help. He chose to get worse, to go deeper instead of reaching out. the malevolence arc shows her this a bit more, Anakin’s stubbornness that his way is the only way, his choice to take risks, starts knocking down that wall of “it wasn’t his fault. He was forced, manipulated.” 

Ahsoka is going to learn exactly how wrong that is. this was just the start.

Anakin chose to become Darth Vader. Every choice he made was HIS. 

If Ahsoka wants to save him, she’s first going to have to lose that faith she had in him. You cant try fixing something if you dont know why its broken

Star wars at a glance: laser fites and spaceship battles Star Wars in reality: a very deep and almost awful analysis of how governments fall, how people cheer as their opressors begin controlling them, how the other is vilified, how unobstructed power and the will, smarts and desire to use it can lead to horrible atrocities.

jokes aside, I honestly dont know if im going to be able to do this right. the easiest way would be for me to have ahsoka and rex do everything they can, right up until the end, and then still fail, still have to watch Palpatine rise to power, watch their friends be killed and what the fought for twice be destroyed. it would keep with the theme but i dont think i want that.

I had a thot for Echos, like an au of the au.

What if over the course of the war, Ahsoka and Rex start getting even more jaded? They’re trying to stop Palpatine, trying to save their brothers and friends, but they can’t do enough. Every time, either more people die or they lose the same number, or just lose the ones who survived last time. Ahsoka slowly loses control of her powers, going deeper and deeper into the force (I’ll explain my force headcanon later). At first, using the dark side is completely accidental, maybe a desperate attempt to save someone. But she starts to notice it working, the only time she can save people without losing way more is when she uses the dark side. At first, she’s scared, she doesn’t want to fall like her master did, like barriss did, like so many Jedi have and will, so she fights back. Until a mission where everything goes wrong, off the wall insane, and she has no choice. She draws on the dark side, saves everyone. And then she starts using it more freely. After all, who would notice if one trade federation man ends up dead, from a broken neck? War is dangerous, and they have thousands of enemies. And who would care if a separatist tactician comes out of an interrogation babbling in terror, unspeakable fear behind their eyes, as long as they have data that can help the war?

Rex is more subtle. He doesn’t draw on the Force, he doesn’t have the risk of falling. But him and Ahsoka are connected in the Force. He grows more ruthless, more protective. He dips back into the tactics used by the rebels, gurellia warfare, infiltration and weakening tactics, and plans that are more concerned with protecting his own than worrying about civilian casualties or how the land is damaged, like firebombing runs. During prisoner transfers, he breaks a few bones when prisoners are rude. He doesn’t take shit from natborn officers, Jedi and non Jedi alike. The Togruta Jedi almost always at his side snarls whenever anyone tries to reprimand him, and complaints somehow always end up missing.

The turning point for both of them would probably be Umbara. Ahsoka’s not leaving Rex and his men alone with Krell after Anakin leaves, despite her telling him Krell's bad. She's mad, Rex is furious, both of them are stuck in a campaign thats hell. Ahsoka wasnt here last time, so she gets stuck a few times, and Rex is trying to save anyone he can. Ahsoka and krell are arguing over tactics, with rex on her side. When Krell threatens Fives (lightsaber from the episode), Ahsoka Force pushes him away. Both her sabers are out and she's glaring him down, standing in front of Fives. Rex has both blasters out and aimed at Krell. Nothing really happens, Krell just stands down and lets them continue, until his plan to take the capital happens. Ahsoka goes with the clones, against Krell's orders, and her and rex manage to save more men on the retreat. Fives, Hardcase and jesse go to blow up the ship, and when Krell tries to have them executed, ahsoka and rex dont let him. (i might write this out). When the time comes where Krell sends them out to kill the 212th troopers, Ahsoka stops it before they even can, but then another battalion comes through and tries killing both the 501st and 212th men. (probably luminara's men because barriss was there in the episode), and lots of ppl die. Instead of the clones going, Rex and Ahsoka go to confront Krell. he threatens to have Rex executed for something, to get ahsoka expelled for dark side and attachments. Keystone moment, and Ahsoka goes dark.

The troopers trudging back to the camp see the spinning lightsabers as Krell is thrown out of the building, and smaller sabers as Ahsoka follows. Rex jumps down, and is helped by Ahsoka to land perfectly, both attacking Krell. The 501st men are shocked, because Ahsoka is fighting like a completely different person. her fighting style is near feral, and the besalisk is genuinely struggling to keep up with her. Ahsoka gets him down, cuts two of his arms off. None of them say anything as Rex shoots Krell in the head. Ahsoka's eyes flash gold as Krell's body is dragged away.

So basically Ahsoka falls, and Rex follows her, because of their desperation to save people and stop the sith from taking over, from stealing so much from them. And the kicker? through this, they lose the family they were trying so hard to save.

Anyhoo that was my angst thot for Echos :)

Random Star Wars Stuff

There's this one hc i remember seeing, i dont remember where, but it was basically a reverse sith eyes thing.

I love that idea, so im running with it, and it will show up in echos of the future with ahsoka because its AMAZING.

Jedi normally have their natural eye colors. the force is flowing through them, sure, but not at a level where it can alter anything physical.

For the Force to show on them, at levels where a force null can see it, with ease? they are in so deep they're barely there.

it happens rarely, so rarely, that the records of it have mostly been written off as legends, myths, things seen when one was delirious or too hurt to tell reality from imagination.

but those records tell of Jedi entering trances so deep in the light side of the Force, their eyes are bleached white, and glow with a silver light.

none of the current generations have ever seen it, not truly, but there are times.

Jedi, desperate to hold out just a little longer, to save just a few more people. The people they defended would sometimes swear they saw the Jedi's eyes glowing, sparks of white and silver in place of green and blue and brown, but the glow always vanished when they looked harder.

Jedi preparing for trials, more intense than most any could hope to survive, would sometimes see themselves in the mirror, and do double-takes when it looked like their eyes had been bleached. the color returns after they blink, but whispers circulate of this happening.

Jedi, on the verge of death, who knew they wouldnt survive the fight, diving so deep into the force that it bled through their eyes, stealing their sight as they saw through the living and cosmic force, just before they entered it.

A few reports pop up, always from the 501st or 212th battalions, always involving the young Commander under Skywalker. Men would be pinned down, dying left and right, and the Togruta would move, shoving the enemy back, would clash sabers with General Greivous, a snarl on her face and white glowing from her eyes.

Ahsoka Info

Sort of spoilers for some of the Time Travel AU? Bit of info on Ahsoka I'm working on

so people reading it have probably noticed how she seems like shes handling the whole time travel thing pretty well, all things considered.

she is not fine. in the slightest. Ahsoka's just good at compartmentalizing, especially when she's in high stress situations. right now, she doesnt have time to break down fully and process the fact that she and rex traveled back in time and also died, because they got dropped right back in the middle of a war where both were on the front lines.

shes also stuck back in her teenager body, including mind. all her force skills are still there, all her memories, but her body is the same as her past one (minus the tether scar). some noticed how her thoughts during her POV sections were racing, almost too fast especially compared to how she behaved during rebels, and her later years in CWs. Theres a reason for this: she's literally back in her teenager brain, including all the racing thoughts and anxieties teens have. she went from a fully developed brain to a teenager. there's some wonky side effects.

There WILL be a breakdown. I have it planned, and its going to also show some more information on what Ahsoka did post order 66 in universe, and its going to be fun and awful. kiddo's got major PTSD she never really dealt with, so that's gonna come back full force, especially since she's back in identical copies of those trauams, except this time she cant escape the memories by waking up.

So I suck and haven’t touched echoes in a few months. Sorry

Anyhoo I mostly write shit during depressive episodes when I need an escape mechanism. It was a very unhealthy coping habit/hyperfixation. Most of echos was done when I was very deep in this hole

Now, thankfully, I have finally reached a stage where I’m content and no longer depressed. Because of this, I’m working to relearn how to write without the negative connotation.

This might take a few months, hopefully no longer, but until I am comfortable touching that fic again. Im going to move at my own pace and write what makes me happy and content. Echoes might be on a hiatus for a while, but I promise I will update as soon as possible.

an: if I post other scraps of writing, please don’t bother me about not updating echoes. I’m working on stuff personally, which means I will ONLY write what I want to so I relearn a positive relationship with it.
