The logical side of my brain: They’re low on spell slots and low on HP, they’re in an environment that could easily turn hostile on them, and without an ally against a creature that they’ve never seen before. Giving up some magical items to stall and have time to do prep is the best course of action.
The feral part of my brain that i didn’t realize existed until Matthew brought out this asshole: I hear you, but fuck all of this and I want that thing dead.
For those wondering, at 3:20:30 (or so), you can see Sam staring intently at Liam, who looks at his phone, then types a response. Once it’s sent, Sam says “wow”, and Liam responds. “that’s long game!”
