Flapless inlet cans are being used in Epcot's World Celebration neighborhood. These came into popularity during the COVID-19 pandemic. To date they have been deployed selectively at both Epcot and Blizzard Beach. When the reimagining of Epcot was announced in 2019, it was outlined that the park would be divided into 4 neighborhoods: World Showcase, World Celebration, World Nature, and World Discovery. Eventually, we saw the first new trash cans aligned with the makeover, the white & blue Epcot logo-branded cans that first appeared outside the Odyssey Pavilion (i.e. "Walt Disney Imagineering presents the Epcot Experience.") A similar style of recepticles (let's call them Epcot Logo Cans, OK?) recently appeared in the former Future World East area of the park, rebranded as World Discovery - encompassing Mission: SPACE, Test Track, and the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind attractions. These cans are also white and Epcot logo-branded, but feature a solid red panel over the sides and top of the can. Have we noticed a theme here? Jumping back to the 2019 map that originally showcased the new Epcot neighborhoods, we can speculate that Disney may have telegraphed the trash can color schemes for these areas. We've already seen the white/blue cans in the World Celebration area (which includes Odyssey and Spaceship Earth), and now the white/red cans match the red map area shown for World Discovery. As speculated with the reimagining of Epcot, new color schemes for the Epcot Logo Cans are following the same colors that Disney used in 2019 when announcing the parks 4 neighborhoods: World Showcase, World Celebration, World Nature, and World Discovery. World Nature, which encompasses the previous Future World West, includes The Land, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, and the new Journey of Water attraction. During D23 Expo 2019, the reimagining of Epcot was announced, featuring a multi-year makeover that will divide the park into 4 neighborhoods: World Showcase, World Celebration, World Nature, and World Discovery. Disney is repurposing the long-neglected Odyssey Pavilion as a preview center, showcasing "Walt Disney Imagineering presents the Epcot Experience." Aside from the really long title - and Disney's continued fascination with using "neighborhoods" instead of "lands" when describing theme park zones, the biggest benefit of this move is a brand new trash can design appearing in Epcot. The Odyssey got an updated paint job and with it, new white and light blue cans with the vintage Epcot logo and recycling icons represented in grey. Watchful CanFans will note that this also introduces an update to the recycling can iconography at Walt Disney World, which has been stuck on using the horrid "Butt Bottle" icon. This updated Can/Cup/Bottle "Recycle" icon is a nice improvement, but still on the cluttered side.
