Eric Prydz EPIC 2.0 Hollywood Palladium 11/9/13
New track by Fehrplay, a talented DJ coming from the Pryda house. The intro hooks you right from the start. I also applaud his willingness to remix "All By My Self" by Moby, a classic and pioneering sound. I had the pleasure of seeing Fehrplay live this past October at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, part of the Epic 2.0 tour with Eric Prydz. This is a musical experience that every electronic music lover needs - it's not about the drop and crazy crowds, Epic 2.0 is truly about connecting with electronic music visually (3D in fact, audibly and spiritually. Again, lucky to live in New York, the one stop on the PRYDA U.S. tour to host EPIC 2.0 :)
Happy almost New Year! I can't wait to share my 2013 top album list. It'll be hard to materialize but looking forward to some year-end musical reflection.
beats and love,
Liz

In The Wake Of: Eric Prydz Presents EPIC 2.0
Eric Prydz raised the bar of live music production in a truly revolutionary way for his EPIC 2.0 tour. His show at the Hollywood Palladium brought in thousands of loyal fans from far and wide. Together, we were an eclectic group of people with one central interest: to witness Prydz, the renowned progressive musical expert, deliver the show of a lifetime.
Jeremy Olander and Fehrplay opened the night with a three-hour back-to-back set. Both artists are part of Eric Prydz’s label Pryda and Friends, and their vast experience in the progressive and techno music scene was evident as they conducted the room. Multiple spotlights circled above us and shone down onto the crowd, painting the room a deep and enticing blue. The pounding, repetitive techno beats teased the audience of what was soon to come. As the clock struck midnight and the two artists wrapped up their energetic set, anticipation permeated the dance floor like a thick fog. The crowd gravitated towards the center of the room, eager to get as close as possible to the legendary man who was about to take the stage. We were encapsulated by darkness, and excited chatter filled the air. Suddenly, the familiar alluring melodies of our beloved DJ entered our ears as a sequence of holograms began to take shape at center stage. Three expansive LED screens were brought to life, flooding the dance hall with intense beams of light. We were so enamored by the sights before us that we hardly noticed the figure that had taken control of the decks. The sound continued to rise, building simultaneously with the enthralling visual show that had every pair of eyes fixated ahead. Disorienting strobes held us in a trance. The music surged higher and higher, then suddenly exploded in a torrential storm of flashing lights and deep, vibrating bass. Eric Prydz In Concert had officially begun.
For two hours, Eric Prydz pushed the limits of live entertainment, holding us at the mercy of his captivating musical expertise. He invited us to lose ourselves in a colorful 3D world of dynamic visual experience that was unlike anything the dance music world has ever seen. Awe-inspiring holograms, blinding lights, and LED projections constantly warped and changed before our eyes, synched perfectly in time with the thundering techno beats supplied by our musical conductor. Prydz felt the effervescent vibes of the crowd as we, in turn, absorbed his passionate energy through each and every track. It was obvious that Prydz had prepared a heavy artillery of mind-blowing tracks for EPIC 2.0, and there were numerous standout moments of the night. Prydz’s notorious mashup “On Off/Laser Beams” was accompanied by a surge of colorful lasers that penetrated the dance floor. He awed us with his updated remix of Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus”, a well-known favorite for many Prydz fans. An intense 2.0 edit of the Pryda hit “Power Drive” demanded our full attention on a powerful and sporadic lightshow. Prydz guided us on a hypnotic journey of sights and sounds from start to finish, finally closing the night with his energetic private remix of M83’s “Midnight City”.
EPIC 2.0 was designed to be a 100% live and improvised performance show, and the stakes were high for Prydz’s second installment of his EPIC tour series. However, he flawlessly surpassed every expectation, and by combining top of the line eye candy with richly hypnotizing beats, Eric Prydz delivered a unique and innovative performance of truly massive proportions.
