I have to say this past month and a bit has been pretty sweet. Although I only have like 15 min to write, I just want to say that I am having the time of my life. I had a 5 day holiday last week, called Cheuseok, which was pretty awesome. It started on a Wednesday, so I only taught two days of class that week.
On Wednesday I went to a Lotte Giants baseball game. It was pretty cool because it only cost around 4,000 won to get into the stadium.
What was cool, was seeing the energy that came out of one side of the stadium..it wasnt really busy, but the people that did go were nice and loud. In the last few rounds of the game, the Giants were winning at this point, we were given orange plastic bags to tie onto our heads. So weird!
After the Giants game, they won 11-3 12-3, we headed back to Seomyeon and went out and enjoyed some of the night life. Because it was Cheuseok it was pretty dead, so we ended up going home pretty early.
On Thursday we ended up on Haeundae beach to enjoy some of the last warm weather for the year. It was gorgeous. Unfortunately we did not bring our bathing suits, but o well means another trip back out right? What we did end up doing was going to the Busan Aquarium. I was actually so excited to see the Aquarium because it had one of those tanks that had tons of huge sharks and you could walk under it. Here are a few more pictures :)
After we were done in Haeundae we went out for some Korean BBQ and then went to the Yeonggungsa Temple. It was so gorgeous at night, although pictures don't do it justice.
Then we again spent our evening on the beach. This time it was Gwanali beach. Which is gorgeous at night because of the Diamond Bridge.
Fireworks here are sold in the convienience stores and you can just take them to the beach and shoot them off. Its not illegal like back at home. You can see the Diamond bridge in the background too.
On Friday we went back to Haeundae beach and actually spent the majority of the day there. We went swimming in the ocean which was a perfect temperature and just lay on the beach and relaxed. We then went out for Korean BBQ. We spent most of our day on the beach, probably until about 10 at night. Then we started to head back home. Instead of going home, I ended up in KSU (a local foreigner area and university).
Saturday was really laid back for me. I relaxed for the majority of my day because I was so exhausted. I made myself home made macaroni and cheese, my absolute favorite, and I pigged out on it! Definitely will do again, especially because I found cheddar cheese. Jackpot! Thank you Costco run! (didn't have this when I made it the first time!). Then I went out into KSU (a great place to party for foreigners). On my way home though I left my cellphone in the taxi, an expensive mistake. I was freaking out about it. I ran to the local convenience store and tried to get the clerk to phone my phone. It had died though. The most I could do that night was freak out alone in my place and fall asleep.
On sunday morning I woke up and had my friends try to call it again. My friend Danny ended up finding it. He said I was crazy lucky, because normally taxi drivers will sell your phone on the black market if they find it. But the guy who got in the car after me took it home and charged it up. I ended up buying Danny lunch. We had some traditional korean food (not quite sure what it was, but it was good). I was kinda grumpy on Sunday, and wanted to stay by myself most of the day. But things didnt happen this way. I had been going so hard for my whole vacation trying to explore my city, I was exhausted. But once I was finished with Danny and just settling in to watch Breaking Bad, another friend called and said he was already on his way...I had no choice. But half an hour later he still hadn't even left his house. I was pissed. I told him not to come, but he insisted he come have dinner. So we went for chicken, and I passed out after at home. Monday was definitely a rough day after cheuseok.
