Our sweet Murphy went to see Dr. Lyndsey today. He has been having more frequent seizures, he went in to get bloodwork. We also had a tracheal/chest xray done. Murphy's seizure meds were increased. We also tested his thyroid and it is low. He has been coughing quite a bit and more lethargic. His heart is enlarged on one side and his trachea is narrowed at the entry point of the lungs. His heart possibly shows scarring from 2nd hand smoke which he lived in his whole life. Murphy was put on Salix for this week which is used for congestive heart failure and we are monitoring to see any improvement in cough. If so then we will continue to treat for CHF. Murphy needs a dental horribly but has to wait until his he is feeling a bit better in a few weeks. When he has his dental we will also send away for a full thyroid panel to test if it truly is a thyorid condition or side effect from having a lifetime of illness. We will have more updates on this sweetpea in the next week. Be Murphy's hero, please donate to his vet/medical bills.
