This made me wanna play with the glitch filter. How about this heckin' James Bond reference! That's what it's going for right? The iconic gun barrel shot before the theme plays. Nice addition from Toei.

I know it isn't Stussy this time but York is having a wild Summer too and I loved seeing this scene. Because of a choice that diverged from my initial read in the manga. York's drowsy, cutesy delivery in the anime made sense to me and all. But from here on, I both started paying a lot more attention to her and her "voice" in my head shifted to a much sharper, more commanding and bratty tone.

Keeping that ditzy delivery though...I love her even more now. Never ever ever drop the dumb blonde act.

Review: Heartland Ep. 1111 “Somewhere in Between”

(Cross-posted at FB.) I came in expecting to be impressed, and I was not disappointed. Thanks to another excellent script by Mark Haroun and excellent performances by the cast (Chris Potter and Victoria Pratt had some meaty scenes to chew through), "Somewhere in Between" brought a very balanced episode (after all that talk of restoring balance last time). I liked that Tim (with his track record!) convinced Jack to do something nice for his wife, even if it was not in his "wheelhouse" to go on the ride. The reasons for Tim's advice are plain to us, since we know he fears he has precious time left. I also liked that Val was not her stereotypical insufferable self, even dropping a truth bomb on Lisa for how she was treating Jack. (What a reversal!)  And gee, who knew Val and Dan could have fun together?! Part of me cringes at that "pairing", but another part says "Y'know what? They're probably perfect for each other". Poor Wyatt. What's a guy got to do to get back into Georgie's good books? After overhearing Val talking to Dylan about having a horse he might ride (Arrow has come up lame), he thinks this is info Georgie ought to know. Val hasn't been pleased with how Georgie's been performing (a third evidently isn't good enough). So, is Val looking to replace her rider? (The answer to that, my friends, is.... I can't tell you.) Amy has another successful result with a client horse after taking him on the hunt and impressing Val, so the "Miracle Girl" is back in fine form.

All of that was very nice, but the best moments in this episode were the times we saw Tim. He's really suffering in this shroud of darkness, most of which is self-imposed. My favourite part was when he's baby-sitting Baby Lyndy and tells her all about her Grandma Marion. He tells it like it's a fairy tale, and it's very sweet, even when he's honest enough to admit the "prince" Marion married wasn't much of a prince because he was "broken" inside. Chris Potter's acting chops were on full display. Whatever your opinion of Tim as a character in the past, you have to give a hand to Potter for playing him so well. When Casey finally drags the truth out of Tim after he tries his utmost to drive her away (even going so far as to lie that he doesn't love her), she speaks four words that will hopefully end his stupid behavior: "I'm not going anywhere". The episode closes with Tim riding out to Marion's grave. He props his hat and his yin-yang/falcon medallion he got from Altan on the headstone. He doesn't say anything, but one gets the sense he's finally making peace with all the mistakes he made when he was married to Marion. Maybe he's even forgiving himself. I hope so. He deserves some peace. Final thoughts: Jack did look dashing in his new threads. Yes, snow can come on that suddenly and in very isolated pockets in this region of the world. I sympathized with Tim and the Jasper-eating-chocolates incident (I was dog-sitting once and that pooch got into what I thought was a very well-concealed candy bar. Thankfully, the amount of chocolate was nowhere near toxic levels, but I was very concerned.) Lyndy says "Dada" again! What a little cutie. Lisa and Val being civil to each other! Will wonders never cease.
