Smiffina Episodes - Episode 192

Smithy tracks down his missing paperwork with Jim and they go into a private room off CID to discuss it. Jim demands to know why Smithy has a copy of Robert Ackland's birth certificate. Smithy insists he can't tell him, so Jim threatens to ask June and orders Smithy to move out the way so he can do so.

With no other option, Smithy has to tell him that Gabriel is Robert, and Robert is Gabriel. Leaving it openended, Smithy snatches the envelope and marches out... but Jim still has the certificate (or at least took a photocopy).

At the end of the shift, Gabriel shocks June with a kiss in one of the offices before they have to attend a meeting where Adam tells the entire station the truth about Des Taviner - and that he has Cameron hostage.

Bonus points for Marilyn telling Reg that 'we're not all like that you know? From Liverpool?" and for giving him his scarf.

"Two years he stayed here, two years with noone being none the wiser. The ego... the arrogance of it." He might be speaking about Des, but Gabriel could also be talking about himself there. Jim watches as Gabriel and June talk closely at the end of the corridor and he follows June into the ladies, asking her why he didn't tell her he had a son.

June is gobsmacked and doesn't know why he not only has a copy of the birth certificate but also how he knows. She tells him she didn't tell him because it was private and painful and none of his business. June is horrified and sick to her stomach when Jim reveals that Gabriel is her son, running out of the ladies toilets.
