All Your Friend's Friends Documentary!

All Your Friend’s Friends is a short film piece (20 mins.) documenting the creation of  K‘s NW hip hop compilation album by the same name, brought to you by Red Williamson and Newspin Films.

All Your Friend’s Friends [KLP255] is the brainchild of producer Smoke M2D6 and MC Eprhyme (as seen in below photog), who first came up with the idea to comb through K‘s catalog for samples that would act as the foundation for a collection of brand new tracks featuring MCs from Olympia and around the Northwest.

Their vision was to create an album that would embody the sense of community they’d found in Olympia’s music scene, by bringing together friends and peers to contribute their talents. In the end, All Your Friend’s Friends also acts as a retrospective of the legendary Olympia label and serves as a reminder of its role in bringing together so many talented and like-minded individuals.

Xperience

Based on interviews taken during the recording phase of the project with quirky and charismatic NW characters ranging from Calvin Johnson to Macklemore, the mini-doc takes us behind the scenes of the making of a real NW audio artifact, as well as providing a glimpse into the unique D.I.Y. hip hop and underground arts scene of Olympia, WA. Other cameos include Xperience, Silas Blak and Jace (Silent Lambs Project and The Blak Stax), Onry Ozzborn, The Chicharones, and album producers Smoke M2D6 and Eprhyme, among others.

All Your Friend's Friends Movie Premiere Friday!

Do You hear that sound? It’s the Northwest hip hop compilation All Your Friend’s Friends [KLP255] blowing up on cels worldwide, causing irreversible damage to Headz and other weird-outs. The All Your Friend’s Friends compilation was produced by Smoke m2d6 and Thee XNTRX utilizing samples from K albums past and present, by such artists as Jeremy Jay, Dub Narcotic Sound System, Ashley Eriksson, Mirah, Make-Up and Beat Happening. Smoke crafted the beats and the assorted MCs let loose. Wicked. The All Your Friend’s Friends comp. has quickly become the regional hip hop event of the year. Now the All Your Friend’s Friends documentary tells you the whys and where art thous. It debuts this Friday afternoon at KEXP.org!

Eprhyme "Punklezmerap"

The melding of minds and cultures, “Punklezmerap” is an explosive concoction of classic Klezmer clarinet, an energetic and up tempo club beat, and a hypnotic, wordless chorus sung by artist, activist and author Nomy Lamm. “Punklezmerap” is a musical Mazel tov cocktail. Rapid-fire lyrics carry listeners through Eprhyme‘s early life experience, evolving sense of identity and artistic development. Moving through hip-hop, punk rock and jazz, the song culminates in a kaleidoscope of creative elements that compose Eprhyme‘s current state.

Host Calvin Johnson speaks with Eprhyme, founder of thee XNTRX and executive producer of All Your Friend’s Friends about the album release parties and a new video for the song “Work Is the Principle”.
