Played a bit of Okage today for the first time in forever. He still intrigues me.

The Phantom Evil King
A memory of a gear
Art I made to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Okage ^^ I also made a video rambling about how much this game means to me ^^
I know Connor made a funny post about it a while back but I do genuinely think that the biggest disconnect between Fable and Skybound in a hypothetical crossover situation wouldn't be species stuff or gods or magic or anything like that, it would be the void
because in Fable the void isn't viewed like something that's out to get you. They are kind, but powerful. Something beyond comprehension but not in a menacing way. It is dangerous, but its more respected than it is feared. It is the source of all life and the end of all things. It isn't a malevolent entity that seeks to consume, but it is a force of nature, and nature is neither good nor evil.
But in Skybound the void is something not just to be cautious of, but to live in fear of. for many years it was, like fable, a force of nature to the average avian. They didn't know it was hungry, that it sought to consume and destroy and decay, only being held back by constant cruelty and sacrifice. It sent up creatures to expedite its work, it was a complete lack of magic and a constant vacuum. There was no kindness. There was no nurturing embrace. Only a lack of everything.
I feel like most of the Skybound characters hear Rae get called "Void Prince/King" once and are immediately on guard. Because in their view, it would be like he commanded it. Like he was somehow its guardian or ruler. That he was the source off all that emptiness and hurt. When in reality, it is more of a claim to his heritage. It is an homage to his birthright as Epros's grandson and Enderian's son. it is not something he commands, but more of where he comes from (not saying that knowing this wouldn't also freak out the avians but)
Epros's very existence would baffle them, terrify most. a personification of all that sought to destroy them. The source of so much pain and heartache. and being in Brightstep would more confuse most fable characters. Because they're careful flying across the void like most people are careful swimming in the Ocean, but the avians have to be even more careful because falling into the void isn't just death, its a sickness that tears apart your very being. That kills you slowly and painfully and infects everything you are.
I just think its so different for all of them and it would be probably one of the hardest hurdles to get past should they be in each others worlds. (I mean Skybound characters would only interact with the void if they went to the end and travel between the four dimensions alone would probably be such a complex issue but thats a whole nother conversation)
