Lizzie went for her operation today. Gus and Bibi... Are not pleased with me for returning without her.
Seeing as I cannot postpone it anymore than I already have (for Lizzie's sake and also my own) I've set up a Vet Fund goal on my Ko-fi page.
Hopefully I'll be able to get Lizzie neutered, if just so she doesn't keep the entire household awake during her heats...
Surely a cat that's just had surgery can't fight that hard?
I was on call with my partner, so they can confirm that, yes, a cat can definitely fight back after surgery...
She kept lunging about in the crate like mad because she wanted out. She even managed to throw herself backwards while laying down, startling both myself and my mom who were watching her...
And when that didn't work she started chewing on the bars like the rat she is.
So in summary: Something wrong with this thing...
I'll be honest, I had no intention to draw for Gordon Day. I actually wanted to do something completely different instead, involving some kitty cat photography. Like what I used to do with my Echo action figure.
But due to technical difficulties, plans changed...
Gordon got launched by Lizzie in her enthusiasm to mess with him, and I decided cute cat pics weren't worth potentially breaking him...
Is Lizzie feeling any better?
Yes, she's being a little difficult which means she feels well enough to be her true gremlin self. That said I think she's discovered the appeal of the crate. She cuts the 10 minutes to walk around and stretch her paws short just to snuggle up under the blankets in the crate...
She doesn't have to deal with Bibi's attitude in there.
Why are you so obsessed with portugal?
Lizzie has been doing ok since her spaying on Saturday. I'm having to give her a lot of supervised walks to keep her guts stimulated, and need to keep her from jumping (which is easier said than done, because she is the Super Mario of cats). But, over all, not too bad.
She really hates the liquid antibiotics she has to take and struggles against my grip when she takes them, but the pill she will take with a bit of cheese.
She's not a fan of sleeping at night in the crate and will cry if she can't see me, so I'm sleeping extra crooked on my bed just so she's soothed and doesn't start fighting the crate (I have a video of her trying to chew through the bars...). She's used to sleeping next to me on my bed so I'm really not that surprised.
Gus has demonstrated a lot of interest in her these last few days. I think he might pity her... Or maybe he's just jealous of the extra attention she's getting. He's even gone in her crate while she's not in there.
I'd greatly appreciate he didn't do this because he keeps dirtying the bedding and forcing me to change it more often than necessary... (Gus is not particularly great at picking litter from between his back toes and just scatters it around the house)
He also overstepped and tried to sniff Lizzie's belly where she got stitches, and got a bite to the face for his troubles... She didn't break skin but it sure startled the nosy old man.
On another note, after 17+ years I finally have new glasses! They're really nice too, and unlike my old pair they're in one piece, not scratched to hell or rusted!
I've been mending these with super glue, foil scraps and nail polish for the last 4 years.
I also never realised how much I was squinting to be able to see anything, until I slipped on my new pair and felt just how hard it was to keep my eyes properly open... The huge eyebags make sense.
Oh, and the new lenses aren't muting colors like my old ones were. I was flabbergasted at just how blue the sky was!
It's honestly weird how you just get used to things after a while...
Update on the Lizzie Vet Saga
We took her to the vet yesterday to do her pre-operation bloodwork. The results came in today and she is finally ready to get spayed! The 30th will be the day.
I don't think she wants to go back there to, seeing as her reaction after having blood taken was to do an ostrich impression with a hole in the wall.
That said, I really can't thank everyone who helped me get the cash enough, for making this possible. Here's hoping things will go well and her recovery is swift.
Although... Maybe not swift enough that she'll seek revenge. She knows where I sleep...
