@equalitygroupglobal by 👏🏾#BlackHistoryMonth is the perfect time to reflect upon and acknowledge Earl Cameron - a 101-year-old British actor who became one of the first black actors to take up a starring role in a British film & is most known for his part in a 1951 film, Pool of London. “No doubt about it. Unless it was specified that this was a part for a black actor, they would never consider a black actor for the part. And they would never consider changing a white part to a black part. So that was my problem. I got mostly small parts, and that was extremely frustrating – not just for me but for other black actors. We had a very hard time getting worthwhile roles.” - recalls Cameron in his interview with @theguardian. ✊🏿As a nation we have progressed and you can see more diverse talent appearing on the screen, however, there is still so much more that needs to be done towards eradicating prejudice and bringing equal opportunities to all.
