i was doing my favorite thing, which is summarizing the entirety of madame web in a public place where the people seated with me are trapped in the conversation by way of social convention, and we got to the end of the film where ezekiel sims (studying spiders etc) is killed by the S in the pepsi sign. for some reason, in the universe of madame web, the pepsi sign sits atop an abandoned fireworks factory that is still full of usable fireworks. this is never explained. and so right before he dies, cassie web (did you say web etc) says something like "the girls weren't your future, i was." and that was when @equalseleventhirds said, "and this is because ezekiel sims (mother amazon etc) stole the powers of the spider, and so the spider powers have been lying to him this entire time so madame web could kill him." and i said "what do you mean by that," and they said "yeah that was explained when she was in the spider pool," and i said "it was," and they said "yes." and i think it's really beautiful that madame web has so many layers. a true piece of cinema
