Summery:

Before John and Paul, there was George and Paul, and their relationship is far more complicated than what it seems. This is the story of two friends trying to understand each other through fame, heartbreak, betrayal and loss.

“So I will wait for the next time you want me, like a dog with a bird at your door”

Why I like this fic:

Beacuse it's heartbreaking and cathartic at the same time. It portrays Paul and George's relationship in a complex kind of way, in every point of their life they jump between the blurred line of brotherly and platonic and romantic love. Their relationship is rarely talked about, both by paul and in fiction, so it really is a gem.

Fic: The periphery

Summary:

Hamburg, 1961. George and Jürgen have something in common: they are a part of a group, but they are also on the periphery. They find something good together.

Why I like this fic:

There have been some great Hamburg fics lately, and this a favorite. The madness of the place, the overlapping relationships, the art—music cross-pollination, the jealousies: it's all there—with the quiet beauty of George/Jürgen at the center.

The characters feel so real—not typecast at all.

Oranges will never be the same. :-)

Fic: What Happens in Cheshire

Summary:

Sometimes, when they get like this – John, mostly, but Paul too if he drinks enough – filthy and suggestive, innuendos so pointed it feels almost like flirting – well, Ringo does wonder.

Forty-five minutes in New Brighton, October 1962. Or, five conversations in a night.

Why I like this fic:

A very sweet and funny glimpse into a night out with the Beatles while Brian and George try to deal with all that John and Paul business, Ringo tries to get used to being in the band, and Paul obsesses about whether Little Richard will show up

I love the way the 5 POVs show different glimpses into the evening - especially George’s. We need more George POVs.

“Well, George knows and he doesn’t mind –”

“I do mind,” George says, but they ignore him.

Fic: wouldn't it be nice?

Summary:

John gets married to Cynthia. Paul worries how this will change things between them.

Why I like this fic:

Because tenderness for John, including his determination to be happy for him, comes through so beautifully. Because it shows a world of love in a single, chaste touch. And because it has two weddings...kind of.

Why I like the fic

There's this one excerpt from the fic told by their childhood friend which I think displays Paul's 'John's princess' title at its finest and I love it for that .

Why I like this fic:

Because of its fearless honesty and the visceral descriptions, and because of how it slowly builds and builds to an ending that is as brief as it is devastating, and YET! This is not a bummer fic. It's alive.
