Describe your project, but as a recipe
To keep motivation, the writing server I'm on gives us a challenge / question a day and today's one was very funny so I'm sharing it.
Erasde (also know as Drama-Pie) :
Utensils :
1 world on the verge of collapsing
1 academia full of magic nerds
1 expanding empire
1 afterlife full of paperwork
Ingredients :
Several ladlefuls of divinity (the more the better)
A small dozen of characters with their own agendas
+500 years of history and historical (in)accuracy
2 spoons of unstable and newly-discovered magic
Some travels, for the filling
To spice it up: a bit of betrayal, a good spoonful of angst (you can also use tragedy, that works too), a dash of romance, a pinch of found family, a jar of rainbows (what do you want, it's queer)
Take the world on verge on collapsing and fill it with the several ladlefuls of divinity.
Then, throw in it the characters and cook on low heat (if some of them dies in the process, don't worry, it means everything is going according to plan).
While they cook, mix up the +500 years of history and historical (in)accuracy with the 2 spoons of unstable and newly-discovered magic and roll the dough obtained with the expanding empire, before putting it in the academia full of magic nerds. Smooth the edges with the afterlife full of paperwork and give it some good stabs too. While you're at it, spread a thick layer of travel on this dough, it's going to be necessary to properly absorb the information.
Once it's done, go back to the world : you should have a somewhat liquid paste, that you will have to spice with the ingredients mentioned above.
Put said paste in the academia, over the travels and then bake in a medium heat fire for about 2½ years, with at least one cliffhanger or twist per book.
Serve while hot, with a Drama-Tea and a slow-process spork.
