“You do everything for him..” “..but does he do anything for u?
i believe that its canon that hizashi isn’t emotional/doesnt let himself get emotional therefore;
i hc that every now and then hizashi just has to let it out. usually shouta could tell when he’s on edge, shortened temper, clearly unorganized, so on… but he never wants to push hizashi to tell him whats going on, knowing his husband will say when he’s ready.
hizashi bottles everything up and is so thankful that shouta is there for him when it all comes spilling out. endless kisses, cuddles, and reassuring words. no one knows him better than sho, and no one listens to him better than him as well :’)
ooooohhhhhhhh erasermic for the suggestions ???? maybe something set when they're newly pro heroes, pre-canon??? or whatever you want :]
{Thank you so so much for your request and I really hope you enjoy it!! Also I loved this prompt so much so it ended up being longer than expectations. This is my idea of pre-canon so it's probably 'angstier' than you were hoping (sorry about that hehe). They are 25 here.}
I can't call you a stranger (But I can't call you)
Pre-canon Erasermic, Angst, One shot
-----
Aizawa didn’t flinch at his alarm. He was so accustomed to his routine that he woke up a good five minutes before it and knew when to expect it. He silenced it before it could disturb the apartment above who actually slept through the night. Sometimes he envied those who didn’t have to live nocturnally- not that it made much difference to him. It took him only a minute to get ready and on his way to work.
‘Hey Eraser!’ Fukukado (Ms Joke) called out to him as he arrived. Aizawa grit his teeth, beneath her bubbly greeting she was seething.
‘Haven’t seen you around much! huh?’ she continued in the same overly sweet tone. Aizawa noticed she was yet to change out of her ridiculous hero costume, her shift was just over and she wore an oversized hoodie (which he recognised as one of his own) to protect her from the cool night air.
‘We don’t work the same hours, Fukukado’ he muttered without meeting her eyes. He knew that was not what she had meant, as his on and off girlfriend she was well aware he could make the time when he felt like it.
‘Well’ she scoffed ,her hands on her hips, a gaggle of her sidekicks waited patiently by her car not wanting to disrupt the free entertainment ‘I hope you have a good patrol. Perhaps I’ll see you around some time! Who knows?!’
With that Fukukado went to join her sidekicks.
‘Wait a second, Jesus’ Aizawa shook his shaggy head in irritation.
‘What?’
‘I’m off tomorrow’
‘so?’
‘I’ll call you’ he added gruffly, unwilling to make any commitments until he got off work.
—---
‘Kayama you just gotta! I swear he’s got cute friends. We'll make a night of it’ Present Mic was on the phone to his friend.
‘Sir, is this really work related?’ one of his sidekicks hesitantly interjected.
‘Yes obviously’ he rolled his eyes and side stepped a car that the villain flung at him.
‘How can it possibly be more urgent than this?’ Another (more brash) sidekick barked as she saved her friend from a piece of falling rubble.
‘Hey I’m the pro here!’ his voice shook the already unstable building ‘now do your jobs and capture that villain!’
‘Sorry, what was I saying’ Mic spoke calmly into the phone.
‘Fine Mic, I’m down but you are buying my drinks’ Midnight’s voice crackled through from the other end.
‘Sick, I’ll come pick you up after your patrol?’
‘Sure thing, see you later baby’ she ended the call with her usual upbeat purr.
Contented with his evening plans, Mic turned his attention back to the villain he was supposed to be fighting.
—---
Mic was running late. Midnight was going to be seriously pissed if he left her waiting. His phone buzzed. Damn she already was. As he scrambled for his phone, Mic tripped over the scattered piles of clothes he had left around the apartment. Cursing his own disorganisation, he didn’t bother to stand up and reached for his phone on the kitchen counter above him.
‘KAYAMA I SWEAR TO GOD, I’M ON MY-’
He heard a laugh like crystal clear church bells from the other end and he blushed.
‘Sorry, it’s just me!’ his date chuckled. Fuck.
‘No don’t be sorry’ Mic scoffed. Pulling himself up off the floor and ,leaning against the counter to stop his legs from giving way, he continued flirtatiously ‘unless you’re calling to cancel on me’.
‘Definitely not, just to say I can’t wait to see you again’
Mic silently screamed before collecting himself.
‘Well hey, same here’ he attempted to sound casual ‘I’ll see you soon, kay?’
‘Of course, see you Yamada’
If Mic had been nervous before, he was a million times more erratic now. It was only their second date but he really wanted this to work out. He was 25 now and he hadn’t had a long term relationship since… well since Aizawa. Not that he was still hung up on his highschool boyfriend or anything. Mic sprayed himself with cologne and shook himself to cleanse away the uncomfortable memories. Tonight was going to be perfect!
‘Took you long enough!’ Midnight skipped from the bus stop where she’d been waiting into the passenger seat. The car was instantly flooded with her heavy perfume, sickening to some but comforting and familiar to Mic like a calming incense.
‘Sorry, I need to look my best tonight this is serious shit’
‘Sure’ she grimaced.
Mic gave her a melodramatic look of anguish.
‘I mean, oh please tell me all about him!’
He launched into a rant. Midnight listened intently, she mustered the same enthusiasm to every new man Mic stumbled across because she was just glad to have him back in her life. He’d pulled apart from pretty much everyone after they left UA. He wanted to bury the past, he’d never processed what happened and now he was trying to distract himself from everything. He’d been running from it for years. One day she would get him to confront it.
—---
The sign outside Fukudako’s apartment building flickered, Aizawa favoured waiting outside under the canopy to going into the foyer. That way if she didn’t show he could silently sulk off rather than make a show of leaving. He straightened up as the doors opened and Fukukado appeared. In keeping with her usual eccentric style, she wore a vibrant orange jumpsuit.
‘Glad to see they approved your parole’ he remarked looking her up and down.
‘Was that a joke?’ she teased ‘I mean you always dress like a criminal, we may as well match’
Aizawa let himself smile as she grabbed onto his arm and they made the short walk to the bar.
‘I was surprised you showed up tonight’
‘I know you were’
‘You’re a real piece of shit, you know that?’
‘I know’
He didn’t usually get so many repercussions for his lackadaisical approach to commitment, maybe after three years she’d finally realised this was never going to work?
Fukudako clasped his hand and swung it back to forth as she chattered away nonchalantly.
No she’d known long ago, she just didn’t care anymore.
The bar was crowded enough without being uncomfortable. The patter of the rain on the roof added to the atmosphere, it was one of the few sounds that could keep Aizawa from feeling drowsy so that was a bonus. Fukukado was on the dance floor. She’d asked Aizawa to join her but she wasn’t really expecting him to, in 3 years of dating he never had.
‘Look who it is!’
Aizawa jumped in his cushioned seat. He would recognise that voice anywhere.
‘Hi Kayam- uh Mic’ he stuttered, seeing his two childhood best friends.
‘Hey!’ Midnight wrapped her arms around his neck pulling him into a suffocating hug.
‘Hi’ Mic was uncharacteristically quiet and averted his gaze.
‘So sorry we didn’t invite you out’ Midnight squeezed into the stall beside him and Mic reluctantly took a seat opposite.
‘No worries’ he laughed but without any enthusiasm. Her apology was meaningless and unnecessary. They hadn’t went out together since UA. Well, he saw Midnight for monthly catch-ups and occasionally they texted but Mic was a completely different story.
‘So how’ve you been?’
‘Just a lot of patrols, very boring’
As they discussed work Aizawa finally let himself look at Mic. He knew Mic looked different (the moustache, hair, general ageing) but it was the familiarity rather than the changes that shocked him the most. As their eyes met for a fleeting instant it seemed as if nothing had changed. Mic quickly looked away and grimaced, Aizawa hated that he couldn’t stop himself from looking flustered.
‘I heard your show is doing well’ he wasn’t one to try to start a conversation but he wouldn’t deny he was kind of desperate to speak to Mic.
‘Oh yeah? Well I’m not surprised, I’m kind of viral’ he pulled down his sunglasses as if to prove his celebrity status.
‘You could be just as famous if you wanted’ Midnight nudged Aizawa.
‘Sounds like hell’
‘Him? He couldn’t even if he wanted to, doesn’t have that star quality’ Mic laughed loudly at himself. It died down as he realised he wasn’t talking to his friend, but rather his ex.
‘I mean, yeah go for it I guess’
‘No you’re right, what’s it like being a ‘celebrity’?’ he said sarcastically. He still couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that Midnight and Present Mic were becoming household names.
‘It’s amazing!’ Midnight shook her fists in excitement. Mic frantically nodded in agreement.
‘It’s got to be annoying though?’
‘Oh 100%’
‘Yeah it’s rough’
Aizawa laughed at their quick change of heart.
As they talked things settled into an old routine. Midnight smirked at the way Aizawa gazed lovingly while Mic rambled on and on. She was still close with both of them separately but this was the most alive either of them had been in a long, long time.
‘Hey, let me buy you something’ Aizawa noticed Mic didn’t have a drink.
‘No don’t worry, I can get my ow-’ Mic muttered frantically, blushing at Aizawa’s earnest request.
‘It’s no bother, I-’ he paused and stopped himself from reaching for Mic’s hand which had recoiled at the motion ‘I want to’
Mic sighed. The mood was unbearably tense.
‘No it’s not that, thanks for the offer and all I’m just not drinking yet’
‘Oh that’s fine, sorry, I just thought you were usually straight to the bar’ Aizawa realised it had been years and people changed.
‘No I am trust me’ Mic laughed nervously ‘I’m just waiting on my date to get here’
The word tasted acidic and hung in the air.
‘Oh’ Aizawa clenched his fist. Sure he was here with Fukukado but it didn’t prevent the idea of Mic being with someone else from stinging.
‘Has he said anything else?’ Midnight leant across the table and Mic showed her a message. It took everything in Aizawa’s power not to grab the phone to see for himself.
‘Oh Eraser, you’re actually being sociable for a change!’
Aizawa wanted to curl up and die as Fukukado approached the table.
‘I guess I’m not the only one with a date’ Mic cooed in a way that made it clear he was seething.
Midnight and Ms Joke made friendly conversation while Aizawa and Mic did anything but look at the other.
‘So who’s your date?’ Aizawa asked to break the silence.
‘Oh some guy’
‘Is he nice?’
‘Yeah, he seems nice’
‘Cool’
The sharpness in Mic’s replies was exactly as it had been the last time they’d genuinely talked, which had funny enough been their break up. Mic could always put on a brave face if they saw each other at a hero conference or event or whatever. He acted cordial, even excited to see his old friend. But right now the way he really felt about Aizawa was on full display and it was not pretty.
‘You still hate me’ he mumbled before he could stop himself.
‘Shut up, I never hated you’ Mic rolled his eyes.
‘So you just broke up with-’
‘Fuck Shouta, it’s been over five years, I’m not fucking doing this right now!’ Mic tried desperately to control his volume.
‘Sorry, I shouldn’t have mentioned it’ Aizawa held up his hands to calm Mic down. He was right, what the fuck was he thinking?
They sat in silence letting their hearts stop racing. Mic started drumming his fingers to the rhythm of the song emanating from the dance floor. It had been a favourite of Mic’s on their group karaoke nights. Aizawa missed him, he wanted to tell him that. Their eyes met again and he knew there was no point in saying what they both knew. As Mic’s fingers tapped along more frantically Aizawa restrained himself from reaching out to gently stop them like he would’ve done if Mic was being a nuisance in class.
‘Do you want to just go for a coffee some-’ Aizawa started but he was interrupted by Mic’s phone vibrating suddenly.
‘Kayama!’ Mic whirled around to Midnight ‘he’s here!’
‘Omg go see him!’ she stood up, bashing her head on the stall lamp.
‘I’m going!’ Mic squeezed past Ms Joke and disappeared into the crowd. Aizawa watched him intently as he grabbed the outstretched hand of his date. He was tall, dark-haired, faceless (from where he was sitting). He was a nobody, nothing special but somehow he made Mic smile more than he ever could.
The night crawled by. It felt like an eternity. No matter how many drinks he had, the time refused to move and the pit in his stomach only felt emptier.
‘Here’ Midnight passed a drink to Aizawa.
‘You didn’t have to-’ he started to say but the look she gave him forced him to shut his mouth. She passed the glass and he smiled a little seeing she’d ordered his favourite drink without needing to ask.
‘I didn’t have to but it looks like you need it’
‘What are you trying to say?’ he scoffed sceptically.
‘I’m not saying anything’ Midnight muttered in her most innocent voice. She let him down half his drink before she continued.
‘What would I be trying to say?’ she probed, leaning against the wall, so close to his face that he could taste her perfume.
‘Fuck Kayama, I don’t know’ Aizawa rubbed his eyes, a desperate attempt to block out the image of Mic’s smiling face when his date had arrived.
‘He does think about you, you know’ she said in a small voice, she couldn’t offer much more than that small comfort.
‘Huh? Good to know, I guess?’ he snorted.
Midnight inched closer until her head rested on his shoulder. The fact that he was tall enough for her to do so without bending down was so shocking he forgot about Mic and his stupid date for a second. He never thought he would outgrow her and more surprisingly he hadn’t even noticed or thought about it at all until now.
‘We need to talk more, don’t we?’ she murmured.
‘We talk all the time’ he brushed her off. They had been pretty good at keeping in contact but what Midnight meant was the kind of talks they’d had in school. Back then they would always confide in each other. He remembered sitting on the steps of UA with Kayama, both of their hair considerably shorter, as he denied his feelings for Mic before relenting and admitting them to her. She told him about Oboro over a coffee, swearing in the exaggerated Kayama fashion that she was going to marry him one day. Every time he got bored at a party and she got tired or drunk, she would just come and sit with him and they would have hushed conversations, often frivolous but every now and again they would put into words things neither could express to anyone else. It was just like right now but the sense of hope and innocence was gone. Even the memories had become distorted and twisted by the future which they could not have predicted, left to rot and fester in the aftermath of what had happened.
‘I still love him’
‘Yeah obviously’ Midnight nodded, she didn’t even flinch or react.
‘I don’t know why I just said that’ they both took a long sip of their drinks to avoid looking the other in the eye.
‘It’s me, you can’t keep anything from me’
‘I’m pretty sure it’s the alcohol’
‘But mostly me’
‘...sure it’s you’
Midnight’s phone buzzed and she jumped, spilling her drink a little. A text from Mic.
‘We r going to a different bar now! U chill w the others?’
Aizawa laughed drily but couldn’t hide the hurt in his voice from Midnight as she shot a sympathetic look his way.
‘YASSSS im all good have fun <3’
She typed her response quickly and waved to Mic as he left, putting on an enthusiastic grin.
Mic held the dark haired guy's jacket over his head as they left into the rainy night. Aizawa gritted his teeth and watched the two huddle together to shelter themselves from the downpour.
‘Good for him, right?’
‘Yeah good for him’ he grumbled although he meant it.
‘Do you want to go home yet?’
Fukukado stumbled over, her drunken state seemed to answer the question.
‘I’ll call a taxi and we can all go back to mine’ Midnight offered as she dialled the number instinctually ‘I bought some wine in case Mic got stood up again’
‘Sounds good’ Aizawa managed but his heart clenched with rage at the idea that anyone could do that to Mic. He deserved so much better than shitty people ,like himself, who never spared a thought for other people’s feelings. He held on to Fukukado’s arm to lead her to the door. Midnight took the other.
Fukukado slept a little in the taxi. Aizawa tried to but each raindrop that hit the window reminded him of Mic sheltering from the rain beneath some other guy’s jacket. Midnight sat in the front, chattering away to the driver in a flirty way that would ensure their price was slightly less than they were expecting. Soon enough they stumbled into her apartment and laid Fukukado on the sofa. Midnight ,despite her own tipsiness, went to the sink and poured her a glass of water and knelt beside her until she took it. Fuck he should’ve thought of that.
Aizawa offered Midnight the free space at the end of the sofa but she shook her head and he sat down. Midnight brought wine, glasses and a chair for herself from the kitchen.
‘That was a miserable night’ Aizawa said bluntly.
‘I know’ she agreed as she poured them each a glass.
‘Careful’ he steadied her hand as she spilled a little. She was trembling.
‘You good?’
‘I guess I was just hoping once we were all together again things would be like they used to be’ her voice wobbled ‘it’s just not without…’
‘I get you’ Aizawa stopped her ‘people change, maybe Mic and I were just meant to grow apart’
‘You weren’t though, if you were then why are you both still in love with each other all these years later?’
‘H- he doesn’t love me’ Aizawa jumped up in indignation, frantically stuttering over his words.
‘Oh yeah?’ she smiled in a teasing way but with an underlying sincerity and softness to her voice ‘did you see that guy tonight, he looks just like you.’
‘So he has a type that doesn’t-’
‘He can’t even talk about you but when I do he is like hanging on every word!’
‘How is that a good thing?’
‘He cares about what you’re doing.’
‘I’m not doing anything!’
‘He hates Ms Joke with a passion!’
‘Hey!’ Fukukado muttered groggily.
Aizawa laughed a little and Midnight grinned at his reaction.
‘You should’ve seen his face when he saw you tonight...’
As he sighed out in surprise his glass steamed up a little. He couldn’t imagine Mic doing anything but scowling or rolling his eyes when they saw each other.
‘He loves you as much as you love him, he just has this obsession with disconnecting himself from the past, fuck me it took him like a year to agree to get coffee with me’
‘Maybe he’s on to something, maybe it’s us two who need to move on…’
‘Do you think he’s really happier now than then?’
Aizawa thought of the way Mic looked at his date.
‘I mean probably’
‘Shut up, he was in love with you and he would be again if you gave him the chance’
‘Or I could just let him move on?’
‘Do you really want to?’
Aizawa sipped his wine, giving her an answer.
‘Ok hear me out’ Midnight’s hand shook and she set down her glass so as not to spill it ‘ah I'm scared but just... apply to UA with me!’
‘What?’ Aizawa croaked out, choking on a gulp of wine.
‘They are taking on new teachers for the hero course next year, I’m going for it’
‘Kayama seriously? You in a school? Me in a school?’
‘You’d be brilliant!’ she grabbed his wrists desperately ‘I know you said before you wanted to-’
‘I- that was years ago, I was being idealistic not rational’
‘You could make a real difference, teach those kids what it really means to be a hero’ she urged him as she tightened her grip on his wrists ‘don’t you wish someone had done the same for us…’
They looked into each other’s eyes for a second, both wide and frantic but slowly softening.
‘Fine, I’ll do it’
Honestly it wouldn’t have taken much convincing, being a hero was not what he expected. If he could do something to protect the next generation of heroes and prepare them for the harsh reality of being a pro then maybe he’d feel like he was actually doing something meaningful. Plus it would be nice to see Midnight more often.
‘I got a job at Ketsubutsu’ Fukukado’s voice was quiet and sleepy, like she was sleep talking.
‘What?’ Aizawa snapped, this was news to him ‘you didn’t tell me?’
She shrugged weakly.
‘That’s not close, you know’ he looked down at her slightly panicked, he didn’t love her like Mic (and he never would) but he had loved her and he would miss her.
‘Honestly I want to get away for a bit’
Aizawa stroked her hair gently and she seemed to drift off again.
‘Good, that sounds like a good idea’
He was glad she was moving on, she deserved better.
‘I can’t wait to be a teacher’ Midnight picked up her glass again ‘here’s to UA!’
They clinked their glasses and drank. Aizawa didn’t know if the warmth was from the alcohol or his newfound sense of hopefulness but he didn’t mind the feeling either way.
Midnight grinned to herself. Aizawa gave a puzzled look, wondering what she was laughing at.
‘Oh nothing, I’m just excited!’ she dismissed him with a wave of her hand.
Now all she had to do was convince Mic to apply. Their faces on the interview day would be priceless.

Also if you like this, you can request one shots in my ask box. Also please listen to the song linked in the title (it is one of the MOST erasermic songs) Thanks again!!}
Omg babes hello im back with something way different Um but I found this song called
Past Tense by JORDY
And it gave me EraserMic brain rot so haha have this <3
TW: second slide references drinking, swearing, purposely miss spelled words bc of drinking that’s all I think
I love erasermic but I also love suffering so I HC that both of them were kind of in love with Oboro in their school days and are haunted by the idea that if their best friend hadn’t fucking died they may have never gotten together.
I'm a bad person I know just go be sad with me
