what is your opinion on bears

I understand why Ereith keeps them around.  They’re like the rainforest, a dramatic reminder that the world is bigger and older than us and that not everything bows to the Amentan will.  We all need to be reminded of that from time to time.  It’s another thing that  Ereith and Miolee have in common.

...Then the ants try to get into your kitchen or the bears try and eat your trash and it’s too cold and or rashy tropical weed is trying to take over the roof garden and it’s right back to BOW TO THE AMENTAN WILL, DAMN YOU.

oooooookay. so a guy was stabbed to death in ereith. by the king. and somehow like half of this landfill of a site are not only okay with this, they actively think it was awesome. (a few of the many examples of this: 1, 2, 3)

and like, a lot of people are defending this by saying that dueling is a cultural thing in ereith? as if that makes it better? "congratulations, this is not a singular case, people die all the time for having angered someone more powerful!"

and yeah i saw the video of someone insulting the king and the king being fine. this is obviously not proof of anything, from the video it seems like either they know each other or it was set up as a pr thing, in either case it tells us nothing about how the king would react to a rando insulting him??? and tbh the fact that this starfireskyglass person would put up an obviously faked/misleading video as “proof” makes me super suspicious of anything else they have to say, like they’ve made several posts “explaining” that according to ereithani culture that blue could’ve backed out and not been in trouble but they’re the only person i could find saying this? so it might’ve been partly made up as a backtracking thing when they saw the backlash, we don’t know

also, someone being unhappy at having to eat at the same table as cleaned trash? is totally understandable? they could’ve been hypersensitive for all we know. and obvs you shouldn’t say rude things just because you’re upset but people are acting like it’s so ridiculously rude it’s impossible to even empathise with when that’s just....... not true

Unpopular opinion: Ereith did nothing wrong.

There are no non-greys in Ereith. They have always been very clear on this point: everyone in Ereith is grey in addition to their other caste.

A soldier impersonating a civilian is an abomination, but Ereith never made a secret of what they were doing. They deliberately and openly forfeited all protections applying to nongreys in wartime, knowing and accepting the drawbacks of that decision.

Granted, it’s usually seen as threatening to have a high grey percentage of the population, but Ereith is too small to be a real threat on the international stage. Plenty of countries have more greys than Ereith in absolute numbers, and if Ereith ever tried to invade somewhere small, or if they started to grow larger, the international community would come down on them like a ton of bricks.

Again, the choice has drawbacks – they can never become a major player on the international stage – but they have never engaged in any kind of deception about their position, and they have chosen to accept the drawbacks.

Seriously, a position of ‘there is a system I may have various amounts of criticism of, but I am pleased when it functions in better ways and when outcomes I think are good happen’ isn’t like, weird and unbelievable or something. (And if you think it is I think you’re probably not paying enough attention to what utter shit a lot of our systems are full of and running off.)

Our election system is full of shit; I’m still pleased when candidates win with broad support across castes rather than only ‘high caste’ support and when candidates I think are good win.

Our justice system is full of shit; I’m still pleased when a case is decided with good procedures and when cases are decided in ways I think are correct.

The caste system is full of shit; I’m still pleased when people with a claim and a desire to a caste get access to the casted things they went after access to. 

And so on, and so forth.

Just waiting for someone to send the “What if [your caste] was dissolved” ask to a grey so they can respond “Well...Ereith?”

Anyway, all these suddenly-have-opinions-on-duels red-haters seem to be paying [not-actually] oddly little attention to the other blue involved, despite the fact that it is rather more accurate to the facts to describe the situation as 

‘She really wanted to insult ex-reds at that very time and place so badly that she tried to attack the king with a sword’.

Which, if you think dueling is always just the same thing as murder is clearly attempted murder right there.

I for one will be perfectly glad to reblog all sorts of politicians working to make red cleaning happen, people making the stand for ex-reds as equal citizens like anyone else, ex-reds getting ahead in all sorts of areas - from whatever country someone wants to write about.
