Erendira the princess of the Purépecha Empire of Meso-America ( known mainly as the Tarascan Empire which is a name given by the Spanish). More info on the read more

Erendira's existence is debated and is regarded as a semi legendary person. Her story I have not been able to find a full telling in English online but I recommend the book Feathered Serpent Dark Heart of Sky Myths of Mexico by David Bowles. Here’s another little pet project I’m working on, called Fabled Feminists. These are all women throughout history that I’ve designed, and I may one day write a book series about them. We got Riina, Rebecca Lukens, Zenobia, Micaela Almonester, Freydis Eriksdottir, Erendira, Khutulun, Ching Shih, Ida B Wells, and Zelia Nuttall.

These are depictions and inspirational art in honor of the great empress/princess, Erendira… She was the leader of the final nation to fight Spanish Conquistadores - and never surrendered. She would eventually take part in an amicable cessation of hostilities.
