I think Eric may have been talking about season 2 being mostly with Jacob and Assad, but actually, if they're not doing the documentary past the first couple episodes maybe, then perhaps Daniel and Lestat aren't around each other THAT much, at least not nearly as much as Daniel was around Louis and Armand for the first two seasons.
That's so sweet what he says about Sam and Jacob. And again that's interesting, it seems like he's saying that they don't have a lot of ego and are really generous with each other in the way that two stars of a show might not always be, like maybe one would be more concerned about looking like the "main" star?

I thought initially he was just referring to s2 too, but him going from saying he did most of his scenes with Jacob and Assad to talking about Jacob and Sam acting together before talking about never getting to film with Delainey kind of gave me pause? The way he talked about Sam's performance just kind of implied a bit of distance to me, I guess, especially given how specific he can be when talking about acting with Jacob and Assad. Even more so given he kind of dropped that little spoiler about Daniel and Gabriella, haha.
As you said though, it would make sense that they wouldn't be around each other tons if the documentary falls apart fairly quickly, and even more so if Lestat's actively avoiding Daniel half the time when they are making it, which it seems from what's been said there's a good chance that he is? From the leaks we've seen too, it looks like Lestat's going to be confronting his past more with Louis than with Daniel, which moves that emotional reckoning anchor from Daniel-and-Louis back to Lestat-and-Louis, which means a lot of those type of intense scenes will likely be between Sam and Jacob rather than Sam and Eric. He could be just trying not to reveal anything though too.
And yeah! It's lovely what he says about Sam and Jacob. They really do seem like such a creative partnership, and one that creates a good and inspiring culture on set. I can imagine there would be a bit of nervousness that there could be tension with the focus shifting to Lestat, but it sounds like that's been handled well. :-)
