Course of the Week: Pitch For Success
Ever been to an event where you were networking with people and no one remembered who you were? Those are always the most awkward email replies to get. This week we’re featuring a course by Eric Byrd that will help people to remember you, your company or your product every single time. He uses a simple “Hollywood formula” to get people interested in your idea and to help make it stick in their minds.
Here are a few highlights of the course:
Loglines: Since you normally have 7 seconds to make an impact on someone Eric recommends using a 1-2 sentence story to make a quick impression. These short pitches are great for when you meet people at events and want to help them remember who you are when you contact them later.
Create your own trailer: The movie industry is the best at creating a compelling teaser story to get you interested to hear more. Eric uses the same principles in order to get you to construct a compelling way to answer common networking questions such as: What do you do?
Do’s and Don’ts of Pitching: When you have loglines and trailers ready, your pitch can come off as flat and disingenuous. You need to be able to tell your story like you mean it. Use words that resonate with yourself to help bring out the sincerity in what you’re talking about. Authenticity creates connection.
These are just a few of the great tips Eric outlines in his course. Check out Pitch For Success today and help refine your pitch and leave people with a lasting trailer in their memories.
