At the start of the school year when I was explaining the classroom rules and expectations I showed this video to my students. They are in middle school, but I adapted it and explained how the academic tools they are adding to their toolbox of knowledge is the foundation of the jumping off point of their high school success. So, what they are doing right now in middle school is going to have a direct effect on not only what they are going to be doing in middle school, but the rest of their lives. 

This video has stuck with them, and when I went to show it to them again after we had a career day, they all remembered what the speaker in the video, Eric Chester, had to say on academic success. I occasionally will say to the students that, "we are in seventh grade for less than two inches, and it determines how your eighth grade year will be which will in turn determine your high school success. So, while high school is still a ways away, we need to make this time count." They typically will pick it up and show a higher level of engagement after this. I just love this video.

He is a great speaker with a great message!

A-Game Rap: featuring 19 year old Zaxby's employee and Atlanta rapper Mardy Mar, this video highlights the terrific work being done by Eric Chester, Matt Smith and the team over at the A-Game; work ethic training that is rolling out nationally to prepare high school students for jobs in the service sector.  Over 85 workforce centers across the US and so far about 30 schools are on board.  Savvy restaurant & retail companies including many People Report members are using the A-Game joblink to start filling their employee pipelines.
