With no National Tally Room in Canberra for this year's election, the ABC is setting up a radio and television election centre at its Sydney studios. The radio team is broadcasting live from the foyer, where a giant tally board is being set up for members of the public who have secured tickets to watch the count unfold. They'll also be able to see into the television studio as the program goes to air. Elections Executive Producer Eric Napper looks back at how the television broadcast has changed over the years and shows off his latest innovations.
NEW TOUCH SCREEN PUT TO THE TEST IN WA ELECTION
New touch screen technology, to display election results, faced and passed its biggest test during the WA Votes broadcast and will be expanded further for the upcoming Federal election. Elections Executive Producer, Eric Napper, tells how he, analyst, Antony Green, and Canberra based graphics whiz, Ryan Kerlin, have been developing and trialling the screen over the past seven months to provide greater speed and flexibility in displaying results from the ABC’s election results computer system.
