Book Review: What Remains Of Her
Book Review: What Remains Of Her
I spent a lovely afternoon with the cat sprawled on my lap, a cup of tea on the table beside me, and the book “What Remains Of Her” by Eric Rickstad in my hands.
Can’t really go wrong with that combo. 🙂
Someone I watch on YouTube mentioned the book so I borrowed it from the library and have had it sitting on my desk for about a week, waiting for a chance to dive in.
It’s a super easy read, took…

The Silent Girls by Eric Rickstad ~ Fiction #BookReview #mystery #suspense #thriller #amreading
This book bursts out of the gate at a full sprint, and doesn’t let up as surprise after surprise confronts the reader. There were times when I had no idea who to suspect (and I’m suspicious by nature – I usually suspect everyone!), and I found myself shocked (in a good way) a time or two.
The premise of this book felt fresh and interesting. I wasn’t a huge fan of the protagonist, but I didn’t…

Book Blog: The Names of Dead Girls by Eric Rickstad
Perfect book to finished for the month of October. Also a fair notice that this actually a series and I realized this too late. But one can read it as a stand alone book and still get the gist of it.
PLOT: Former detective Rath is on the hunt for a very dangerous predator by the name Preacher. What makes Preacher so dangerous? Well it could be because he had kidnapped and assaulted women in the past. Oh, and Preacher was the one who murdered Rath's sister and brother in law while his infant niece (now adopted daughter) was in her crib upstairs. Preacher should be in prison for life but for some reason he was released early due to "good behavior". But ever since he's been let loose already two women have gone missing and preacher is the prime suspect yet again. Can Rath solve this case and put Preacher back in jail before he attacks his daughter, before he can finish what he started?
PROS: It is nice to see that the author is trying to make Vermont as creepy as possible; describing how the woods can be unnaturally quiet and how far the nearest store or college campus is. Cause it is true, for such a small state it would take me 40 minutes to get to my friends' house. Also Rath and Preacher's enemy relationship is really suspenseful, you can feel all of the anger and vengeance oozing out of Rath and how calm and collected Preacher is. Like he doesn't give two shots that he killed Rath's family. If anything Preacher is proud of is killings which makes him all the more chilling. The other side characters like Test, Rachel, and Grout are fairly developed and are relatable in their own way.
Cons: Maybe it's because I had the advanced copy with me but it totally skipped chapter 63, so that's a downer. Plus there were more than a handful of sentences where I had to repeatedly reread them because the phrasing just made no sense.
CONCLUSION: If you're in the mood for a cop mystery/ drama than this is for. Just keep in mind that there are going some phrases that even I didn't quite understand. All in all I recommend this book and I give it a 7/10.

when a book doesn't end the way you want it to... Even worse - when a book ends with a cliffhanger and you don't know what to make out of it ugh Ugh UGH TELL ME WHAT HAPPENS
