Thinking about the DLO AU again and I can't help but think about Raven paw and Barely hopefully they are alright and hid inside the barn. As for mutations I don't really know except for maybe somehow fusing with some of the farm equipment or maybe a scarecrow esc mutation.

The barn cats got VERY lucky, all things considered. Patches of scales on Ravenpaw? Well it’s surprisingly good armor. Extra pupils for Barley? Well it helped him dodge a fatal attack - losing a tail is better than losing your head! They live on as fine examples of adapting to your mutation rather than letting it take over.
The reason they did so well is that the new farmer - a Very Determined Man named Daniel Forthwith bought the place recently. He’d always been blind, and had blackout curtains on all the windows. When the Visitor arrived, his blindness was a massive gift - he managed to corral all the unmutated/friendly animals into the house, and hunkered down. About a week in, there was a friendly knock on the door.
Eric Windywhistle is, was, and will always be, a sailor. His survival was a bit traumatic - he lost an arm tripping over a cat, smashed into a pet store and merged with an illegally acquired octopus, saw his sailor friends turn into slavering monsters, and had to dodge cars while running for cover. Eric managed to craft a sunshade that blocked the eye in the sky, but by the time he reached the farm he was exhausted. Thankfully Dan’s a fine fellow and let him in.
The pair (the human pair) kept everyone alive and almost all the animals sane (that hen was always a bit nasty) and survived the rest of the Visitor’s time intact. They parted ways but stay in close contact over the phone or through visits.
