“The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you.” “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” “In a time of drastic change it is the learners who inherit the future. The learned usually find themselves equipped to live in a world that no longer exists.” REPOST FROM @baby___pics #erichoffer #benjaminfranklin #bbking #learning #learnnewthings #learnsomethingnew #babiesofinstagram #kidsfashion #kidsofinstagram #foldingclothes #practicemakesperfect #gymmotivationalquote #fitness #fitnessmotivationquotes #quarantine #quarantineschool #homeschool #babypictures #babypics #workingfromhome #smartkids #babieslearning #healthylifestyle #healthyliving #healthyhabits (at Our Beautiful Planet) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_WOdFOhatF/?igshid=gqx19u9tj2a2
The most important point is — and remains — not to take oneself seriously. There is no past, and, certainly, no future. There are but a few years — ten at the most. You pass your days as best you can, doing as little harm as possible. Let the desires be few and treat expectations as weeds. You read, scribble as the spirit moves you, hear some new music, see every week the few people you are attached to. Again: guard yourself, above all, against self-dramatization, a feeling of importance, and the sprouting of expectations

Pride is a sense of worth derived from something that is not organically part of us, while self-esteem derives from the potentialities and achievements of the self. We are proud when we identify ourselves with an imaginary self, a leader, a holy cause, a collective body or possessions. There is fear and intolerance in pride; it is sensitive and uncompromising. The less promise and potency in the self, the more imperative is the need for pride. The core of pride is self-rejection.

The Neverending Reading List: Book VII
The True Believer: Thoughts on the Nature of Mass Movements by Eric Hoffer
A stevedore on the San Francisco docks in the 1940s, Eric Hoffer wrote philosophical treatises in his spare time while living in the railroad yards. The True Believer—the first and most famous of his books—was made into a bestseller when President Eisenhower excited it during one of the earliest television press conferences.
Completely relevant and essential for understanding the world today, The True Believer is a visionary, highly provocative look into the mind of the fanatic and a penetrating study of how an individual becomes one.
