Continuing my Realm Breaker reread with Chapter 7 (The Queen of Lions, Erida):
1. I love that both Erida & Sorasa have something to say about men & tree stumps.
Erida, Realm Breaker: “It’s the crown they want, the crown that draws hopeful proposals. Not my striking blue eyes or sharp wit. I could be a tree stump for all they care.”
Sorasa, Blade Breaker: “Half these men would fuck a tree stump without a second thought.”

2. Given what happens to Erida, Konegin, and Konegin’s son, I want to know who’s next in line for the Gallish throne. (Also, I am so glad Konegin never saw the throne. I think the destruction of the realm would be preferable to him ever wearing a crown.)

3. I love all the little webs being weaved. Oscovko, Galland wanting to test their knights against the Countless, Orleon and the mounting fight against Madrence, Erida’s relationship with Bella Harrsing.

4. Truthfully, I’m not much of an Erida girly. I think she’s a great character, but I don’t particularly resonate with her. That being said, she has some baller lines. “History gorges itself on women raised high and then brought low by men grasping for their power.”
