Erik: Carson. Erik: Tell me you saw your girlfriend in your dreams before you met. Erik: And don't bullshit me.

Sirius: Don't see what that has to do with you.

Erik: This is important.

Sirius: My dreams are important to you? I'm touched.

Erik: Why is a yes or no answer so hard?

Sirius: You're one to talk. Sirius: Why is this important?

Erik: Kaito's getting breakfast with a girl I swear I've dreamed of before. Erik: Now answer my question.

Sirius: ... None of this makes sense. Sirius: I did, yes. Sirius: But I figured it was kyogre and rayquaza.

Erik: It's Pokemon related?

Sirius: Seemed like it. Sirius: Legendaries though.

[A minute later]

Sirius: You said you had a legendary once? You were serious?

Erik: So this is what it takes for you to believe me. Erik: I'm hurt. Erik: You think she has one?

Sirius: I thought you were messing with me. Sirius: Like you always do. Sirius: The girl you dreamed about? Probably. Sirius: What legendary do you have?

Erik: Never about something important. Erik: Does it matter which?

Sirius: I answered your question. You answer mine. Sirius: I'm trying to help you.

Erik: Celebi.

Sirius: She probably has another mythical pokémon then. Sirius: How long has it been? Sirius: Is it just her or are there others?

Erik: Sirius. Erik: What the hell is going on Erik: How do you know any of that

Sirius: Think you're the only one with secrets, O'Malley? Sirius: I don't know for sure, but it'd be my guess. I've only seen Weather Trio trainers.

Erik: Thought I knew all of yours. Seems I was wrong. Erik: You know you sound crazy? Erik: If I hadn't seen her I Erik: I don't know Erik: Are they all real? Erik: Forget Kaito's date, you should see this other girl Erik: Where are you? Erik: We should talk Erik: I have questions

Sirius: Well aware, that's why I don't go around telling people. Sirius: They're real, as far as I know. Rune was, so was groudon's trainer. Sirius: I know a thing or two about beautiful dream girls. I believe you. Good luck finding her. Sirius: At headquarters, trying to wrap up some loose ends. Sirius: You can buy me a coffee, I'll tell you what I know.

Erik: That's how you really met? Erik: No. Erik: Tell me in person. Erik: I'll be there soon.

Sirius: I mean, I don't need to tell you anything.

Erik: You just offered to

Erik: Hey Erik: Are you still at work?

Sirius: Yes. Sirius: Unrelated question, being held against one's will is considered kidnapping, right? Just checking.

Erik: Depends on who's doing it Erik: Shields calls it overtime

Sirius: Shields and Kaito are in collusion on this one. Pretty sure they're bonding over my misery. Sirius: If they hook up, I take full credit. Sirius: Where the hell are you, anyway?

Erik: Kaito making eyes at him? Erik: Sucks to be you though Erik: Pretty sure you don't want to know

Sirius: If there's any chemistry between these two, it's about as exciting as watching grass grow. Sirius: At least Lily gives Kaito that look and he gets flustered. Sirius: So... not the bar?

Erik: You haven't mentioned the Valentine thing before. Erik: How dare you keep that from me Erik: Soon enough. Not yet.

Sirius: Oops. Sirius: But also, remember that one time you interrogated my girlfriend? Because I certainly haven't. Sirius: Boo. Too bad. I was hoping for an excuse to leave.

Erik:  Huh. You still seeing her? Erik: We can talk about that later Erik: I care more about this thing with Valentine and Ogawa Erik: gimme an hour

Sirius: Should I be insulted by the surprise in that message or...? Sirius: Yeah, probably insulted. Not sure what the alternative is. Sirius: No, no, I have information. You want my information. We trade. Sirius: Good, I'll see what I can do about getting the hell out of here.

Erik: What do you want? Erik: ha. With the boss and your partner? Good luck

Sirius: To know whatever the hell that was about. I'd assume jealous, but Rune isn't your type. Sirius: I know you're capable of a decent first impression, so why? Sirius: I'll focus, I'll focus, at least there's something to look forward to now. Sirius: I was going to see how long I could make them stay...

Erik: No deal. Erik: I’ll just come in to watch them in person. Erik: You’d be there forever. Erik: Bossman is there late

Sirius: Wait, seriously? Sirius: Oh sure, with all of your free time. You could try asking Kaito about it again. Sirius: Does he go home?

Erik: Not talking about it Erik: I wanna see this look from Valentine. Is it obvious? Erik: Bet he sleeps at his desk

Sirius: You're lucky I like you. Sirius: Not talking about it. Sirius: That's healthy... Kaito too? How do we know there's not something going on already?

Erik: Damn it Carson Erik: Trade for something else Erik: He's your partner, not mine Erik: Is there something going on with Shields AND Valentine?

Sirius: I want what I want. Sirius: Shields and Valentine? What makes you think that? Sirius: All of these socially awkward workaholics, I wish they'd just get it over with. Sirius: Maybe they'd nag me less.

Erik: Why does it even matter? Erik: With Kaito Erik: He might be into that Erik: Ha. I don't think it's possible

Sirius: You answer my question and I'll answer yours. Sirius: The three of them together? Fat chance. Sirius: Well... actually... Sirius: A man can dream.

Erik: It's a professional interest Erik: Now tell me. Erik: You'd be better off looking for Jirachi

Sirius: Wait. Sirius: RUNE is your professional interest? My Rune? Sirius: That's not possible. Sirius: Yeah, yeah, Valentine makes eyes at Kaito. She claims she admires him, but that's bullshit. Sirius: And he gets ~flustered~. Sirius: Hey, I've already caught one legendary, why not another?

Erik: So defensive. Erik: Get it on camera. Erik: You got lucky getting one.

Sirius: Because you're wrong. Sirius: Why professional interest? Sirius: I've tried, Kaito gets MAD. Sirius: Jealousy isn't a good look, Erik. Sirius: And it wasn't luck, Kyogre picked me.

Erik: Wrong? About? Erik: It's a work thing. Erik: Risk it. I need to see this. Erik: Me? Erik: Jealous? Erik: Not a chance. Erik: Yeah, yea, you've said so before

Sirius: I know you don't always interrogate your challengers, Erik. What's this about? Sirius: Then you need to come in or tell me something worth losing my free weekends over. Sirius: Complaining about my legendary? I think you're a little jealous.

Erik: Interrogate is such a strong word. Erik: You are absolutely no help. Erik: Fine. I'll do it myself. Erik: I have one of my own. Why would I be jealous?

Sirius: Is it though? Sirius: But I'd rather know and I'm sure you'd rather not come into the office. Sirius: We can both get what we want out of this. Sirius: Oh sure, Virizion, maybe? Make it a little more exciting for challengers?

Erik: All I did was ask a few questions Erik: Everything is fine Erik: I'll be in to see Erik: I can hear the sarcasm from here.

Sirius: We're not done with this topic, Erik.

Erik: You have nothing to worry about

Sirius: Which job are we talking about anyway?

Erik: Hey Erik: Got an idea Erik: You should say yes now and save me the trouble of explaining.

Kaito: I'd prefer it if you explained.

Erik: You still have Pluto in custody, right? Erik: The Drag E4 wants to talk to him. Erik: When's a good time?

Kaito: ... You mean the victim?

Erik: Yeah

Kaito: Erik, I respect your abilities to gather undercover information. Kaito: However, that sounds like a good way to get our witness and our informant to shut down.

Erik: Or he tells her more things than he tells us Erik: We can be watching Erik: It'll be fine

Kaito: We can't know how he will react. Kaito: Or how she will react, for that matter.

Erik: Ok but we have handcuffs

Kaito: How do handcuffs help this situation?

Erik: No one gets violent that way. It'll be fine.

Kaito: That is not my concern. Kaito: My concern is that they will both stop giving us information. Kaito: ... But I suppose you know him best. What do you think his reaction will be?

Erik: idk. This is currently the most emotion I've seen from him ever

Kaito: And why do you think that is? Kaito: Couldn't it be because he was captured?

Erik: Have you tried asking him?

Kaito: No, I didn' realize that the way he's behaving is any different than usual. Kaito: You want me to ask him why he's cooperating?

Erik: What? No. Ask him if he's ok with Miss Keavy talking to him.

Kaito: Ah I see, that makes far more sense. Kaito: Why don't you call next time? Kaito: I hate texting. Kaito: I'll ask if you think it'll get us more information, but been very cooperative so far. I don't see how she can help...

Erik: I'm busy Erik: Might not do anything Erik: But I wanna try anyway

Kaito: Very well, I will ask. Kaito: But you're in this with me, Erik. Either we share the reward or the punishment.

Erik: Fine by me. Let me know

Kaito: Why must every agreement with you feel like I'm selling my soul? Kaito: I'll get back to you.

ERIK & KEAVY (001)

Keavy: I heard the F.B.I. took Rath into custody last night, is that true?

Erik: Might be. Think you can sleep easy now?

Keavy: Not if he only "might be" under arrest. Keavy: Was he arrested or not?

Erik: We have a suspect in custody. Erik: that's all i can say Erik: Rules and whatnot

Keavy: The secret is out. Keavy: I heard from a gym leader who found out from tourists in the area... There's no notification?

Erik: Why does it matter so much to you?

Keavy: I've met a lot of stupid Irishmen in my day, Erik O'Malley, and you are not one of them. You know very well why. Keavy: This is the very first time someone has made an attempt on my life, so I'm invested. And Rath is was my best friend. I'd like to know why this happened.

Erik: I'll take that as a compliment Erik: So thank you Erik: Cant spill investigation secrets though Erik: But I'll see what i can do Erik: Is that all you want to know?

Keavy: I'd like to talk to the suspect for myself. For my own peace of mind. Keavy: I know it's a big ask, but I helped you with your investigation, and I'd like to find out what's going on for myself. Especially because you can't share information. Keavy: If he's going to talk to anyone, it's me. Maybe I can still help.

Erik: My boss will say no Erik: But I might not have to ask him Erik: We'll see

Keavy: I'd ask for more information, but I'm not sure I want to know... Keavy: For the record, I already knew who did this. If not for my help, you wouldn't have Rath in custody and I'd still be able to ask my questions... Keavy: When I got around to it. Keavy: So if there's anything that you can do I'd really appreciate it, Erik.

Erik: Asking nicely ruins the fun Erik: I'll hit you back in a couple of days Erik: No promises.

Keavy: I can threaten to do everything in my power to get your gym leader status removed if you'd rather? Keavy: The absenteeism is a glaring mark on the American League's record. Keavy: But only if you'd prefer. ;) Keavy: Be in touch soon.

ERIK (au drabble)

One night.

Erik allowed himself one night of wallowing in misery before he threw himself back into his work. One night of drowning his sorrows in vodka and sending half coherent texts to everyone but her. Sirius would give him shit for it the next morning but he didn’t care.

It was over.

It was for the best, he supposed. His line of work meant that anyone he cared about was a target. He was always on the road, never home. He didn’t even have many people he could introduce her to. What kind of life was that for someone like her? How could he blame her for leaving that?

Fuck.

He should have learned after Ethan.

Double fuck.

Maybe Sirius had the right idea.

SHIELDS (drabble)

Seven years ago, not yet in charge of anyone, Michael Shields began to put together the idea that there was a massive criminal organization going on behind the scenes. It was little things on certain crime scenes: accidents that were just a little too perfect, small details that were usually innocuous but too many formed a coincidence. No one else believed him, of course. The murder of a state governor was not connected to the assassination of a gym leader in England, a case Shields had only heard about through a friend at Scotland Yard. 

But even then, at age 32, Shields was one of the most dedicated, hardest working agents the FBI had. He saw the connection, even if no one else did, and he followed through with his hunch. It was the sort of reckless that he would tell the agents under his command to avoid in the future, chasing faceless assassins into the nether. A career killer if he was wrong. But Shields believed he was right.

And he was. Nine months later he uncovered the name. Elysion. The faceless were still faceless, but at least he had something to call them. He was closer than anyone else had ever gotten in forty years. That was why it was dangerous.

Elysion sent an assassin the next night, having already caught wind of the FBI agent on their tail. Neptune, as Shields would later learn his name to be, failed, not counting on Shields sleeping with his gun under his pillow.  The next day he received a message on his computer, one that deleted itself before he was able to prove his theory to any of the other agents. 

Well done, Agent Shields. You live to die another day.

No one believed him, still. So he focused.

He shot through the ranks until he was division head. It meant he was mostly out of the field, but he could put agents on the case. He picked the best of those under him (as frustrating as some may have been) to hunt down the elusive group.

Blake Demirci and Kaito Ogawa were first, agents Shields had worked with before he had taken the promotion. Erik O’Malley, a boy who had followed him into the FBI, agreed to go undercover not long after joining the agency and actually managed to find a way into the leader’s good graces. Sirius Carson and Jason Scott transferred into the DC office, both with immediate approval from Shields himself, both added to the task force as soon as they arrived. Lily Valentine joined the FBI with outstanding results, and with her, Shields felt he had enough.

Erik confirmed there were only nine members of Elysion and he was one of them. After five years undercover, Erik was able to provide names, faces, everything they needed, including the name of the mastermind behind it all.

Tristan Alcott.

They had met once, in passing at a formal event in DC. Even then he had felt danger, every hair on his body standing on end. At the time he hadn’t been able to place the threat, but now it all made sense. The man had been planning his death even then.

But he’d lived to 39. And now he and his team had more than enough evidence to bring Elysion down for good. No matter the cost.

FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION (au drabble)

Erik had been watching Shields’s office window for an hour by the time Sirius finally arrived to work. The green haired man didn’t have a desk of his own, as he spent so much time out doing things, so he was perched backwards on Sirius’s chair, watching. Gold eyes were open, the usual friendly smile conspicuously missing, all of which was getting him more than a few curious glances from the other agents.

Erik didn’t even look away from the window when Sirius put his things down, nor when the other man actually spoke up, smirking. “You planning on doing my paperwork too?”

Without looking at him, Erik just waved a hand to shush him. “Quiet. I’m busy.”

“In my chair.”

“You have the best view. Just shut up. Shields is smiling. I’m trying to figure out why.”

Sirius raised an eyebrow, turning to look at the office window that so fascinated Erik, only to find blinds blocking most of his view. “You’re kidding.”

“It’s been an hour. I think boss has been replaced by someone else.”

Kaito, whose desk was opposite Sirius’s, looked up from his files, frowning. “What?”

“You heard me. I’ve never seen him smile. Have you?” Sirius just shrugged in return, still trying to get a good look through the blinds. Kaito thought for a moment before shaking his head slowly. Erik couldn’t see the nod, but took the silence for agreement. “See? It can’t be him.”

“Who else would it be then?”

“Couldn’t say. I’m trying to figure that out, see? No one in Elysion has that good of a disguise power.”

“Could it—“ Kaito couldn’t finish his sentence before the door to Shields’s office opened, the man in question stepping out, no smile to be seen. Immediately Erik tried to pretend as if he hadn’t just spent an hour peeking through the window, but he wasn’t fast enough, and Shields immediately shot him a glare, a promise for a later discussion unspoken along with it, before he walked down the hallway to his boss’s office.

“I told you.” Kaito hissed, quietly, watching their boss leave. Erik’s eyes also trailed after the other man, and he grinned, standing and offering Sirius his chair back. “Well, that’s a conversation I need to hear. I’ll text you updates about our imposter boss man.” Then he was gone, disappearing down the hallway after Shields.

He wouldn’t be back in the office for a week, and he refused to address the Shields smiling rumors ever again. Erik never did find out just what happened, much to his disappointment, and no one believed his smile sighting either. Not until Tristan Alcott was captured, that is.
