Vintaged-out just the way I feel @erinapier would want it, this memoir is more touching than I ever imagined it would be. I thought I was going to hear of their early days and love, candy-coated and made to look perfect for the audience. I thought reading their rise to success would possibly leave me with more questions than answers. Basically, I admire the couple but wasn't sure the book would reflect what I see in them while watching Hometown. I love art and I love history and these two do the most wonderful job of blending them together. Anyway, the book is so much more than an ode to HGTV! It's about the hard work that's needed to make love a reality and marriage work, about the real fears of stepping out of your comfort zone to pursue your unlikely dream and passion, and endless faith truths to light a fire in your heart and warm it right up, all in this beautifully written light read. I'm not sure if they did their own writing or had a ghostwriter, but they both write like professionals if it is them. They paint an honest picture of their not always perfect lives that makes them easy to relate to. It seems like your reading letters from your best friends instead of complete strangers. I highly recommend it, even if you don't watch the show.
