Ace Voices: What it Means to Be Asexual, Aromantic, Demi or GreyAce byEris Young

Lots of the work done by asexual writers and activists has been around fighting back against the sexual “maturity narrative” that dictates that you “become an adult” when you have sex, that any intimate relationship must “progress” towards sexuality, and that a person who hasn’t had sex “yet” is somehow naive, immature or innocent. This maturity narrative is often used against asexual people to frame us as naive, childlike or ignorant, to perpetuate the idea that we don’t know our own minds and bodies, and, ultimately, to bar us from fully participating in our own political and social liberation.

Don’t like it? Leave. Or you could stay and learn something? Anyway, on to the review. Mum, Dad, don’t read if you don’t want to know some stuff about me. Paperback, 288 pagesPublished September…
