When they tell him, he laughs at them; Raven can’t die. She’s Raven, she’s too good to die, to quick, clever. Besides that, her healing factor won’t let her die.
So he thinks it’s a joke for three hours until they show him her body.
Then he doesn’t speak to anyone, not even their children, as they come aware of what’s happened to their mother.
It’s like some sort of special hell for him; Raven has been his confidante, his best friend and partner, and his wife, for close to twenty years, and has survived far worse than he has in that time; how is it SHE’S the one who’s gone? Who decided that was what was to happen?
The funeral comes a week later, quiet, private, him and the kids, some of their close friends, and he says nothing still. There are no words to say, she’s gone, their war is not finished, no matter how close it may be, and he’s lost half of himself.
You weren’t supposed to go, Raven… You weren’t supposed to go.
