ABOUT

Julian was about fifteen years old he was when his mother brought him over on a ferry boat ride. It was supposed to be just a visit, but then she dropped the bomb on him that she was divorcing his father and his brother would be staying behind with him. He was angry that he didn’t get a choice, leaving behind the sunny coasts of Sydney for the hazy fog of Eroda. He even tried to leave on a little dinghy once when he was seventeen, but every time he tries to think about how he ended up nearly drowned on the beach, his mind wanders, and the mental fog refuses to clear up. All he knows is that he cannot leave. Nobody can.

As he grew up in Eroda, Julian developed behavioral problems that stemmed from his uprooting. He grew angry and rebellious, and it was a wonder that he somehow managed to finish school with how often he was suspended for making trouble. Rebellious teenage years passed, and he managed to find solace in playing the guitar and making videos.

Julian started to go to college, but dropped out after the first year because he didn’t see the point in it. He taught himself how to make good videos, and after working his ass off at one of the local grocery store since his teenage years, he bought himself a good camera and began making videos. When people noticed, he began to take on freelance work making and editing videos-- weddings, birthdays, you name it-- while still working at the grocery store.

When he heard that a local band was forming up three years ago, he immediately jumped on the opportunity and brought his guitar skills to the table. He can do back up vocals, too, but loves to shred on the guitar best. Bass, electric, acoustic, you name it. It’s something he likes to do for fun as a passion project with Arlo Donegan.

Since then, he quit the grocery store and has been living on the money he makes from playing gigs, and from his videography work. He’s even collected snippets of footage around town to use for music video ideas, including the fog, although some of that footage seems to turn into nothing but static when he tries to use it. Weird.

Two years ago, his mother passed away, leaving him alone in the house they lived in. Not long after, he adopted a puppy to keep him company, and they’ve been inseparable since.

Is the adult version of the “Have You Ever Had a Dream” kid.

His favorite color is teal.

DOES YOGA a lot. Picked it up after college as a way to calm his mind and center himself.

He’s very introspective, and his thoughts can be a little eccentric and out there for some people, so he prefers to play dumb sometimes. Big Dumbass Energy is strong regardless of his intellect, however.

born and raised in eroda, bambi has just basically accepted the fact that she’ll never leave. her grandmother was plagued with wanderlust, which eventually killed her, and she left the girl many of her diaries to read back on. so, she takes advantage of the isle — every inch mapped in her head, knowing everyone in the village, and making sure her presence is loud 

the nickname bambi she got from her grandmother as well, her mum wasn’t around and her first name is given from her so she likes to pretend it doesn’t exist. if you end up somehow discovering her first name, and call her it, she will jaw you

her dad was never really home, worked all the time & bambi basically took care of herself 

dated @camercns​ through high school, it ended horrifically and now she wishes he would take a long trip on sail boat. but if you look at him for too long, she will jaw you

often she seems very unfeeling, but her biggest problem is that she feels too much. all the time. self destructive, a storm rages inside of her that makes her constantly insatiable. through grade school, she was often in the office, in high school she nearly got banned from prom. still, she has more friends than enemies

she started getting tattoos at the ripe age of fifteen, and now she couldn’t even tell you how many she has. minimal tattoos make up a sleeve on one of her arms, the other has her hand fully covered, as well as her stomach. the rest are just spread everywhere

taking after her father, she really pays rent for no reason. bambi just has her apartment to sleep, she can’t stand being bored — she’ll seek out a strangers affection if it means temporary occupation

florence  grew  up  in  eroda,  but  her  family  is  not  originally  from  here.  they  came  here  shortly  before  florence  was  born,  and  they  moved  here  because  the  brochures  they  saw  of  eroda  made  this  place  seem  so  DREAMY,  they  had  no  idea  they  couldn’t  actually  leave

florence  grew  up  alongside  her  brother,  who  is  hands  down  her  best  friend.  they’ve  been  attached  at  the  hip  ever  since  they  were  younger,  and  honestly  you  can’t  find  flo  without  him  nearby

her  father  was  a  hardworking  fishermen  in  the  charters,  but  when  flo  was  seven,  her  father  drifted  a  bit  too  far  out  from  the  island  and  ended  up  being  taken  by  the  unforgiving  waves  of  eroda.  because  of  this,  she  now  has  this  sort  of  destetment  to  the  island  and  what  it  has  taken  from  her.

her  father’s  ship  was  eventually  recovered,  as  was  his  body.  the  sohn  family  could  rest  easy  (  as  easy  as  they  could  )  now  that  they  had  the  closure  of  her  dad’s  death  and  what  had  happened  to  him.  there  was  a  small  funeral  held  in  their  backyard,  where  her  dad’s  body  still  remains  under  a  crude  cross  her  and  her  brother  had  made. 

her  fathers  friend  who  worked  the  charter  with  him,  ended  up  giving  florence  her  fathers  busted  pocket  watch.  she  keeps  it  on  a  chain  in  her  pocket,  despite  it  not  being  able  to  tell  the  time  anymore.

she’s  afraid  of  the  water  and  what  it’s  done  to  her,  but  she  finds  it  pretty  calming  to  listen  to.  she  likes  to  sit  on  the  porch  and  knit  (  yes she  IS  a  little  old  lady  ),  listening  to  the  waves  crashing  on  the  rocks  and  trying  not  to  think  about  what  they  took  from  her.

she  much  rather  prefers  heaven’s  woods,  surrounded  by  the  trees  and  the  greenery.  she  spent  her  whole  upbringing  climbing  these  trees  and  getting  herself  as  muddy  as  possible.  her  mother  would  hose  her  down  in  the  front  yard  before  she  was  allowed  back  inside

she’s  very  much  more  of  a  tom - boy.  hates  wearing  dresses  and skirts.  how  can  you  climb  a  tree  in  a  skirt  ??  you  cannot.  so  she  just  does  not.  loves  to  play  “ boy ”  sports  and  then  absolutely  crush  them  at  said  sports.  baseball  is  her  FAVOURITE,  soccer  is  a  close  second

but  she  also  loves  to  bake,  like  SO  much.  she  works  down  at  doughy  delights,  and  honestly  ?  eats  more  of  her  product  than  she  sells  it.  usually  brings  nice  baked  goods  down  to  flanagan  market  for  people  to  snack  on

also  she’s  in  a  BAND  !!  what’s  not  to  love  about  that  ??  she’s  the  drummer  in  a  little  indie  band  around  the  island,  and  they  often  play  the  pubs  and  venues  around  !!   they’re  mainly  a  live  band  that  do  covers,  but  they’ve  started  dabbling  in  their  own  music  and  writing  original  content.  they’ve  also  considered  the  idea  of  getting  into  a  recording  studio,  but  flo  really  doesn’t  want  to  get  too  wrapped  up  in  the  rock - star  life,  because  she  knows  it’s  just  a  pipe  dream.  she  already  wants  to  leave  this  god - forsaken  island,  but  she  doesn’t  want  to  grow  attached  to  the  idea  of  performing  for  a  real  audience  if  she  can  never  have  it. 

has  a  one  eyed  cat  named  tucker,  she  saved  him  when  he  was  a  kitten  and  she’s  been  his  best  buddy  ever  since.  tucker  sits  on  the  porch  with  florence,  listening  to  the  waves  and  purring  away.  he’s  more  of  an  outdoor  cat,  but  he  always  comes  home.  so  if  one  eyed,  calico  cat  comes  to  be  your  friend  on  the  streets,  don’t  worry  about  him  finding  his  way  back  home.

florence  is  very  impulsive  and  has  almost  a  million  little  and  big  tattoos,  and  also  is  a  total  hoarder  because  of  all  the  impulse  buys  she  makes  and  then  refuses  to  part  with  them.  what  if  she  needed  that  kazoo  she  bought  at  cherie’  gift  shop  six  years  ago  ???

totally  affectionate  with  everybody,  incredibly  friendly  as  well.  you  could  spill  soup  in  her  lap  and  she’d  probably  apologize  to  you.

full name is saoirse eve leary, affectionately called cece by her family since she was young and runs with it as her nickname !

born and raised in cork, ireland with two siblings, a working class father and Slightly upper middle class mother

her childhood wasn’t like, Majorly eventful; she was considered a bit of a tomboy which isn’t a surprise bc she’s always been a bit of a spirited, adventurous girl, has the odd nomadic moment strike her and loves to travel

had a SUPER close relationship with her maternal grandmother before she passed a few years back, still has a close one with her grandfather and paternal grandmother as they’re still living

is a big family girl overall, so much so that she’s eagerly awaiting the day she gets to be the cool aunt

had a decent cluster of pals over the years that’s likely dwindled due to everyone going their separate ways after high school

she still doesn’t understand that.. yeah, she Literally is stuck here for the rest of her life now, probably because she hasn’t made a Real attempt to put that to the test, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it FDSLKJDS

anyways she came here solo ( more than likely ) and has enjoyed her time getting to know the locals and other visitors, taking in the scenery, etc

all you have is you , taking solace in the two things you know - artwork & video games . you imagine yourself as a gallant hero - like the one in the zelda games - riding alone but still kind & brave , and these drawings you make consist of both the characters from your comfort and yourself as such . you bury yourself in your nintendo ds , carrying it everywhere , and maybe one day you’ll be the link to a story where there’s a courageous hero needed and you can fill that slot . of course , your interests only contribute to the fact you’re seen as high school’s punching bag . you take it .

but things get different the one day you get pushed to the ground - because high school’s like that - and your beloved drawings get torn , your ds held from your grasp like a toy held from a jumping dog . and oli d’angelo , the ‘ angel boy ’ , with red lips & cherub cheeks & puppy eyes , decides he’s had enough and clocks his assailant back . principal’s office visit again , you’re suspended , but your darling mother ( she’s all you have ; your father strolled out the door before you could know him & the woman is a bit broken from hoping he could come back after all these years ) rubs your back , takes you out for ice cream , and tells you that you did the right thing .

doesn’t feel like it , since your limits were simply pushed .

graduation , art school , new horizons . oliver d’angelo meets trevor frost , and they instantly click , and with words exchanged across library tables and eventually kisses behind bookshelves , a budding romance is formed . he’s rich ; he even offers to pay for your tuition , but you fall in love with him because he looks at you like you are everything , but you don’t realize the wool pulled over your eyes - because you’re an angel who’s naive & innocent and he’s the monster that berates you & digs at you with even the most syrupy words , then lulls you into coming back . you spend your nights crying thinking you are to blame for things he’s done to you - finding he has more bedmates than just yourself , being accused of things that aren’t your fault or your doing . . . you are broken down , piece by piece , and once more . . . there’s a day where you can no longer take it .

screaming , hellfire , a broken angel finally breaks free of his chains and runs away , even though the monster tried to clip his wings . you pack up your things and leave , and you realize that your financial support is gone , but you need to get out . 

. . . this life , it’s tested your kindness & your patience - you’ve been tossed through the wringer endlessly , and as you leave his apartment , you make a resolution that you can no longer allow yourself to be hurt . you cannot be vulnerable .

you are now oli , and oli shows up to his high school reunion with a new air of confidence . obnoxious confidence , like a party boy - but he retains his charm , words of silver leaking from his lips and charisma among a crowd enough to bring in even those who treated him unkindly in the years prior . he becomes the LIFE OF THE PARTY , but he doesn’t actually want to be there . this new persona - this arrogance , this annoying voice , this being who participates in every vice possible . . . he is nothing like the sweet & gentle boy that lies underneath . but he’s a mask , a suit of armor that you carry - so you can numb yourself over the loneliness & hurt that’s plagued you over the years .

new horizons , take two . you complete a tattoo artist apprenticeship , get your license - ship yourself off to another chapter of your life that hopefully means things will change . you’re black clothes & sunglasses & tarot cards & tattoos , silver tongues and smiles that only signal mischief . long conversations and words flying a mile a minute because your mouth is your greatest weapon . the good thing is nobody here knows you . . . even though maybe , you’d want them to - but if you do , you run the risk of getting hurt again .

oliver gets hurt , but oli is a courageous hero ( maybe ) that can go up against anything needed . . . you can be oli for now , even though that hurts just as much .

SO OLI . . . god this is my son . this is my oc i’ve written forever and god do i love him . 

so !! he’s an artist , loves to draw , paint , etc , now employed as a tattoo artist ! and . . . he’s also . got a lot of bad habits since he’s got a party boy facade to keep up and tries to make himself into someone else since , who he actually is , he’s scared to be in fear of getting hurt again . 

on the inside , he’s sweet and gentle and introvereted - he doesn’t like big social gatherings and would much rather vibe on his own or with a few close friends ( if he had friends ) than anything else . but he’s afraid , again , of being himself or being vulnerable towards anyone else because he’s seen as an easy target , and his feelings are easy to manipulate . . . 

so on the outside , he’s much different . he’s fucking annoying , to start - he’s a talker , always has something to say , and he’s very good at keeping a conversation . he’s a charmer , and paired with his big brown eyes and his award winning smile he can talk a snake out of its basket . but he also , again , maybe says too much and doesn’t have any fear or realization of consequences , and indulges himself in things like alcohol , sleeping around , loud parties , etc . because that’s the persona that keeps him guarded . and he’s gotten used to it , but he doesn’t like that this is what he’s known for . he wants people to get to know him for him but . . . this is his only option , since if he lets people inside , he gets hurt . so he just has to deal . 

he’s that person that talks so much , you think he’s oversharing when in ACTUALITY he’s telling you nothing of importance . oli is fucking smart & intelligent and he knows how to read a room , how to pick his words - all survival techniques he’s learned from navigating the world around him . he’s . . . an expert at this social stuff , even tho tbh he much rather wouldn’t be .

Orla Como was a girl running away from a problem. Not one she had started but, one she had fallen very deep into. That’s what most out-of-towners come to Eroda for anyways and she was no different. Only bringing one suitcase and whatever life savings she had, she aimed to literally disappear. That she did in Eroda...or at least for a little while. It wasn’t long before she had to find a job, now originally she wanted to go and study at the university and get herself a real big girl job but in her current position, she could never afford that. That’s why she works at the bar according to her tax forms. Though the bar is the perfect cover for her after hours profession. At first it was occasional, more so a relationship in which she was intimate and got paid for it— win win right? but, sooner rather than later her name was infamous she’d be ignored or accosted if she tried to speak to most people in town. Rather than take it sitting down, she brandished herself with her Scarlet letter and wore it on her sleeve. She’d always been one for the dramatics and this had been no different. She’s been doing this for something like five years before a boy comes in, looking young as ever and incredibly out of place, They didn’t sleep together but she felt more connected to him than she had anyone before. From that day forth Nils has been by her side every step of the way. He helps her pay her rent, and buy the nice clothes she likes and makes her laugh the way no one else could.
