“Have hope Y/N, always.” He retracted his hand, sad brown eyes watching you. And as the space closed you shouted, “Cassian I lov-” You were cut off by the clang of metal as the ramp shut completely. You pounded your fists against the metal, screaming for Cassian and Jyn.
Aben pulled you off the floor, but you were to overpowered by anger and pain. You threw yourself on the floor and you could hear the ship break through the atmosphere of Scarif.
“Y/N, if we’re going into the heart of Imperial command, we need to be ready to attack.” Aben’s voice barely broke through to you as you grasped the kyber necklace and closed your eyes. Aben walked away, prepping the weapon you did have. You just sat on the floor, quietly weeping, praying.
“Rogue One; May the Force be with you.”
“We’re approaching the Death Star,” Aben said, her voice cold, “grab your blaster.” You looked up at your friend from your spot on the ground. Her eyebrows were furrowed and her lips were set in a hard line. You didn’t need to use the Force to tell what she was planning. Darkness clouded around her like a swarm of flies. You remembered what Chirrut had said about Cassian on Eadu and felt sick to your stomach. You stood and turned to look out of a window back to Scarif. Hardly anything remained; pieces of the planet flying high above the site where the Death Star’s laser struck. You felt the pain, immense heart ache of a hurting planet, a dead planet. Tears stung at your eyes, but you pushed them down.
“What’s the point?” You murmured, but Aben heard you. Her head spun to face you, her eyes ablaze. She marched towards you, meeting your eyes. “The point!?” She asked, furious. “We take out as many of those monsters as we can and go down fighting. Like Chirrut, like Jyn and Cassian. Like Bodhi. We don’t give up, because they wouldn’t,” she paused, sadness becoming more apparent in her features, “they didn’t.” A loud thump and hissing sound interrupted the moment, causing both you and Aben to turn around.
“We docked.” She whispered, turning back to face you. You nodded at her and picked up your blaster. You and Aben quickly found defensive positions and readied your weapons. The ship door opened and a cold breeze blew into the star cruiser. Before you or Aben could fire a single shot, both of your blasters flew to the ground. You gasped, but Aben remained composed as she pulled a grenade from her belt. Before she could pull the pin, she was lifted off her feet. She dropped the bomb to the floor and clawed at her neck with her hands. You leapt to her side, pulling her down with the Force. She let out a gasp for air and fell to the ground.
“You.” The voice was robotic, as if it came from a new branding of droid, but when you turned, it was not a droid you saw. A tall figure, dressed in all black, stood in the doorway of the ship. Behind it, the Death Star’s hallway was filled with a multitude of stormtroopers. The Empire knew of your arrival, and felt so compelled by it, they sent troops and a masked creature.
You felt as if you should cry and your head grew muddled with fear; but you felt the warmth of the kyber crystal against your chest and found a renewed strength. You glanced at Aben, who was still on the ground regaining her breath, and closed your eyes. Your hand shot out and with a pull, a cold piece of metal fell into your hand. As if it was an instinct, born into your blood from years ago, you pressed the activator switch. With a buzz, red light flooded your face and the dark creature shouted in anger. “Fire!”
The stormtroopers barged into the ship, unleashing a reign of heavy fire. Using the lightsaber, stolen from the cloaked being, you returned their fire with aimed ricochets. They fell in front of the figure, who remained silent as you sliced through the flood of white armor. What felt like minutes passed, when you had made your way to stand near the creature. With all of his guards slain, he stood quietly. He took a loud breath, “Next time, ask before you take things that do not belong to you.”
You almost laughed at the nerve of the man. You just stared at it’s masked face, and raised the red lightsaber above your head, ready to strike it down.
“Y/N! No!” You heard Aben shout, but it was too late. Before the blade could hit him, the creature raised a gloved hand and everything around you went dark.
“Y/N! Y/N please wake up,” you heard her panicked voice before you saw her face. Your eyelids fluttered open and you were met with a harsh light. You squinted, sitting up to study your surroundings. “Where are we?” Your voice came out more rough than you thought it would sound, but Aben only shook her head. “On the prison deck of the Death Star,” she murmured but she didn’t seem entirely sure, “but all I know for sure is that you went bantha shit on those troopers.”
You rocked off the ledge you were lying on to stand. “What was that thing with them,” you asked, rubbing your aching head. Aben turned to face you, her eyes wide in fear. “Death himself,” she whispered, the terror in her being more apparent than ever. You walked towards her, leading her to sit on the ledge, “Don’t worry Y/N, I’ll get us out of here.” As your friend slept on the ledge, you looked around your cell, seeing only grey walls and a single door. You knew the only chance of escape would come with enemies entering the cell or rebels freeing you. You felt your heart lurch at the thought of the rebels, hoping they got the plans to destroy the Death Star. Now, you and Aben just had to escape before the rebel fleet blew you up.
You weren't sure exactly how much time had passed since Scarif, since your capture. You busied yourself with mediation and trying to comfort Aben. She was a mess, so emotionally broken, most of the time she would only stare off into space. You were both fed through a slot in the door, which troopers would shove the smallest portions of food. It had felt like weeks until something happened.
One day you heard the uniform stomping of boots against tiled floor. You stood and Aben shakily followed. The footfalls stopped suddenly, but you could feel their presence outside the door, mixed with something more. The door flew open and you stared straight into the red eyes of the creature in black. It's breathing was so loud as it echoed against the close walls of your cell, that Aben shrunk and sunk to the floor. Her fear was so overwhelmingly strong that, not only you could sense it, but the creature could as well. It let out an evil, mechanical, laugh that shook you to your core. “Who are you?” You voice was strong, but you knew the dark figure could sense your unease. It took a large step towards you and you felt violated; sharing the same air with it made your skin crawl. “I am Darth Vader, one of the leaders of the glorious Empire,” he took in one more loud breath before continuing, “and you are Y/N Erso.”
Despite the voice being altered by the suit he was wearing, you could hear what sounded like the remains of a man speaking to you. You felt his emotions through the Force, dark with sadness and red with fury. “But you know that your identity is a lie,” his voice echoed in your skull and you could sense him probing your mind with the Force, just as you had done. You pushed him out, taking a daring step towards him. “I am aware,” you hissed, finding your fight again. You felt shivers crawl down your spine, it felt as if you were suddenly standing on the edge of a great divide, about to fall for the last time.
“So aware you are, yet you don’t know that you stand in the presence of your true father.” You could almost feel the bone shattering collision as you fell into the dark, ominous ravine that had become your life ever since Jyn told you that Galen wasn’t your biological father. “No…” your voice was barely above a whisper when you spoke and your hand was pressed to your chest. Your true father was the very being that was willing to destroy entire planets for the Empire; the very being that sent Cassian to his death. “You were taken from me by those I trusted, to hide you away. They feared I would harm you.” Tears fell down you cheeks before you could stop them. “Don’t cry my child,” his voice boomed, “for you will soon met your brother.” You glanced up from the floor, looking into the bug-like eyes of the mask. He hesitated before he spun on his heels and walked out of the cell, the door closing shut behind him. The urge to vomit, to purge your body of all the evil words and things you had heard was overwhelming. Despite the truth, the pit in your stomach untightened for a moment; you had a brother. You turned to face Aben, who, now knowing your true identity, looked at you with determination. “You’re nothing like him Y/N, you’re far stronger and better.” You walked over and helped her stand “We’re getting out of here.” She gave you a nod, “we’re going to find your brother, even if it kills me.” Her voice was like is was before Scarif, strong and ready to face anything the galaxy could throw at her. You smiled and for the first time, since you arrived, you felt that sense of hope Cassian would want you to have.
“Alright,” you said as you turned to face the door, “let’s do this.” You reached out your hand, straining the Force to move the door. It jiggled slightly, but with a gasp, you dropped your hand. Before you could try again, blaster fire rang in the hallway outside the door. You and Aben looked at each other and then the door. Aben rushed towards it, banging his fists against it, “Hey! Hey! There’s rebels in here,” she shouted, “Help us!” You were about to stop her, tell her it might be a trap, when the door opened to reveal a man and a huge furry creature.
Aben suddenly stopped yelling and the man looked at her in surprise. “Han Solo! Fancy meeting you here!” The man smiled and the creature behind him yelled. “I could say the same for you!” The man said, but was interrupted by more blaster fire. He ducked in the doorway, returning fire at the troopers. You walked over the Aben, “who’s this?” Aben smiled at you, “Remember I said I met a smuggler? Well this is him, and his co-pilot Chewbacca.” The Wookiee roared, firing back at the enemy. When the blasts stopped, Han turned towards you, “Han Solo,” he said holding out his hand, which you shook. Chewbacca roared and Han nodded, “We should get going, we have to meet back at the ship.” The four of you ran through the halls, evading stormtroopers as you went.
“So why are you here?” Aben asked Han while you all ran. The smuggler laughed, “Damned suicide mission to save a princess, what about you?” You looked towards Aben and saw fear flash in her eyes, “We were fighting alongside some Rebels, on Scarif.” Her voice was quiet, but Han still heard her. “I heard about..” he just shook his head and didn’t finish his sentence. As the four of you rounded the last corner to the hangar, you almost ran into a young looking farm boy and a girl in a white dress. “Luke!” Han shouted, looking to him then the girl, “You must be the princess.” The girl nodded, looking at him then you and Aben, Luke did the same. “I’m Princess Leia Organa, now can we get out of here!?” Han nodded, “Who are these two,” Luke asked, his blue eyes peering briefly at you then staying on Aben. “This is Aben Bodni and...um..”
You stepped forward, “I’m Y/N,” you said, “Y/N Erso.” You felt Aben’s gaze on your and you turned to see her smile. “I hate to break up the meeting but can we go?!” Han yelled, darting towards his ship. When you got to the deck, you made sure Leia, Han and Chewie were on board before Luke shouted suddenly. You ran down the ramp to see what had happened and you saw him. Darth Vader, your father, standing over a mess of cloaks on the floor. Aben grabbed Luke’s hand and you all ran inside the ship.
“Who did he,” Aben started, but she stopped when she say the look on Luke’s face. You stood across from them, silently recounting all that had happened. You thought of Cassian briefly, but forced yourself to think of over things to stop yourself from crying. So you joined Aben and Luke’s conversation. “His name was Obi Wan Kenobi, or Ben. He told me about the Force, how my father had it.” Your ears pricked up at his words, “Your father?” He nodded, “I never knew him, but that thing killed him. Just like Ben.” He grew quiet once more, but you and Aben looked at each other with understanding. Luke was your brother, you could feel it in your soul and through the Force. “I’m sorry, Luke.” Aben said, squeezing his hand gently. You smiled to yourself, at Aben’s affection, you had hope that maybe your brother would heal her broken spirit. “Where did you say you were from? You asked, and Luke looked up at you, “Tatooine.” The look on Aben’s face was priceless as you let out a little giggle. You were about to speak up about your past conversation with her, which involved her saying no one from Tatooine was attractive, when a golden droid and an R2 unit walked in. “Captain Solo is requesting your presence Y/N.” You got up, walking past the eerily familiar droids, and to the cockpit.
“Easy princess, we’ll get to your precious base soon enough.” Han said to Leia who looked very annoyed. “You don’t understand the importance of my mission! That R2 unit it invaluable to the Rebel cause!” Han rolled his eyes as you spoke up, “Why is that?” Leia turned to face you, her lips set in a firm line. “That droid is carrying the plans the Death Star, sent to us by rebels on the planet Scarif.” You just stared at her, “What?” She asked and you remained quiet for a moment longer. “I knew Rogue One, I was there,” you murmured and Leia let out a gasp. She leaned over a hugged you tightly, “the galaxy will be forever grateful for you and those lost.” When the hug broke off, Han looked over his shoulder at you. “You’re one brave kid, Erso” he said, “I’m glad to have you on my ship.” You thanked him for his kindness and walked to a secluded section of the ship. You looked out the window there, your hand clutching the kyber crystal. The stars shown brightly as the ship moved through space and you felt a wave of peace wash over you as you closed your tired eyes.
The rebels got the plans, your friends, your sister and your Cassian did not die in vain. You opened your eyes and for a split moment, you could see the blue outline of your fallen comrades before you. You saw Cassian, reaching out towards your face, his ghostly hand leaving a feeling of warmth on your cheek. You turned away, to try to get rid of their Force ghosts, You had a Rebellion to lead, Cassian would understand if you didn’t want the distraction; and he did, his ghost faded away with the rest of Rogue One, leaving behind one last figure. He was an older man, someone you had never seen before, but you felt his strength through the Force. “Kenobi,” you murmured and the man smiled. The Force ghost of the newly fallen Jedi stepped towards you, and with him you felt your destiny weigh in your heart. “You are strong with the Force, Y/N Skywalker, you are the New Hope.”
Here we go my friends, send me any feedback you have. This isn’t my best writing by far but I hope you guys will like it! Warning : I did get carried away with writing about Bodhi, you’ll understand.

“It’s not marked. What’s your call sign?”
“Uh….” Bodhi started, looking at you. You raised your eyebrows.
“Say something.” You urged.
“R-Rogue.”
“Rogue?” Asked the man over the comm. Bodhi nodded and with a smile added,
“Yes. Rogue One.”
The trip to Scarif was quicker than you thought it would be. The stolen ship just barely made it past the the planet-wide shield, but when it landed a wave of relief flowed over you. You climbed down from the cockpit, to find Jyn giving the whole team a pep-talk.
“We’ll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent.”
They all nodded in agreement, and you couldn’t help but marvel at how your sister had grown over such a short amount of time. A warm hand on your shoulder broke you from your thoughts.
“Y/N, you remember what you and Aben are doing?” You looked up into Cassian’s eyes and nodded at him. He gave you a small smile, letting his gaze linger on your face. You grabbed his hand squeezed it, pulling him into a tight hug. You pressed your face to his shoulder and wished that time would stop for a little while.
“It’ll be okay, they don’t know we’re coming for the plans. If all goes well, we get out of here in one piece.” You nodded against him, his words soothing your nerves. With everything that had happened, you couldn’t help but feel content in this moment. You looked up into Cassian’s eyes and saw everything that was possible. Defeating the Empire, finding your birth parents, and a lifetime of possibility.
Cassian leaned down, pressing a kiss to your forehead. Not content with that, you pulled his lips to yours. You savored it because despite his words, you felt a pit in your stomach that would not go away.
“This isn’t a goodbye, Y/N.” Cassian whispered as you pulled away from him. You pressed your palm against the side of his face, bringing his forehead to yours. “The Force is with us.”
You knew that Cassian wasn't all that religious when it came to The Force; but in that moment you saw a flame behind his eyes. Passionate flame, a promise born of fire; that he would see you again.
You pulled away one last time and watched as he and his droid counterpart prepared to leave.
“I’ll make sure he gets back to you.” You turned to see Jyn standing near you. Her eyes following your gaze on Cassian. You squeezed her hand, “You better come back too.”
She gave you a small smile and you knew instantly she was uneasy about this whole thing. Jyn knew it had to be done and she’d do it, despite the worry you saw on her features. “I’ll use the Force, to keep tabs on you. Help guide you.” You whispered, trying to soothe her.
“Can you even do that?” She asked, causing you to smile.
“I’ll sure as Hell try, my sister.” She grinned back at you and enveloped you in a bone-crushing hug.
“I love you, Sunshine.”
“I love you too, Stardust.”
The nickname sounded foreign on your tongue. You could only remember the names being said by Galen, with his rough voice. In that moment, it was a parting gift, a parting memory shared by you and you sister. Jyn pulled away, her eyes glittering with rebellion, and followed Cassian and K2 off the ship. You watched at they disappeared behind the cold metal doors, in their Imperial disguises and felt the knot in your stomach tighten with unease.
You felt anxious just waiting. Everyone was out there fighting, you feel their anger towards the Empire. With the Force you could see how valiant Baze and Chirrut were, acting as the distraction for Cassian, Jyn, and K2.
“If you keep pacing you're going to drive me crazy!” Aben said, her hands in her short brown locks. You stood still, to appease your friend. You reached out further with The Force, and felt Cassian’s presence; strong, brave and in pain. What had happened?! Jyn was still alive, but where…
K2SO.
The droid was down and Cassian felt helpless. Your heart broke as you opened your eyes. Tears traveled down your cheeks and upon seeing this, Aben walked towards you.
“What's wrong?” You let out a small sniffle, “Kaytoo.”
Aben’s face fell, despite her dislike towards the droid. She knew how much you cared for the Captain who owned him.
“Cas and Jyn are fine but I can feel,” you sniffles, “I can feel him pushing his feelings down. The guilt and pain.”
Before Aben could speak, Bodhi appeared out of the cockpit. His brown eyes were wild and his hands shook slightly. “You two have to go now! Troopers are heading here from the east beach!”
Aben quickly grabbed a large bag with grenades hanging from the sides and a large blaster. You grabbed the nearest weapon, which just happened to be a smaller blaster. You turned back to Bodhi, “What about you?!”
“I have to send the message,” he gave you a weak smile, “I'm the pilot.”
Aben hugged Bodhi, who carefully hugged back. “Be careful my friend.” Aben hit the button that lowered the ramp. The remains rebels in the ship readied to cover you both. You gave Bodhi one last look, “May the Force be with you.”
The Scarif heat was intense and you and Aben ran across the beach into the loading bay of another ship. You both were hidden in the bushes, watching the stormtroopers march past you when you reached out with the Force once more. You could feel Chirrut’s strong presence as he walked under a heavy rain of blaster fire. Your heart leapt to your throat when the blast went off. It felt like it was so close, you screamed. Aben slapped her hand over your mouth, stifling the cry but it was too late. Three troopers were heading towards your hiding spot. Aben pulled out her blaster, shooting one square in the helmet. The other two ducked for cover behind a cruiser that was docked on the landing bay.
They fired back at you, but you managed to shoot one down. Before the remaining trooper could call for back ups, Aben opened fire once more and delivered a killing shot. After you both scanned the area for any other troopers, Aben turned towards you.
“Why in Scarlacc’s name did you scream?!”
You swallowed hard, thinking about how to explain the empty, Chirrut-shaped hole in the world. You could only try to guess how Baze was taking it, he’d probably do something quite reckless. Your heart sank further at his pain.
“I was checking on Chirrut, reaching out to him and I felt him…” Aben realized what you meant and her eyes fell to the ground. “Sorry.” She murmured, running her hand through her hair and looking up to the sky. She stood there, motionless, watching the sky.
“Aben?” You stood next to her now, looking up in the same spot.
The Rebel Fleet had arrived. A wave of renewed hope washed over you at the sight of X-Wings shooting down TIE fighters. You shook Aben who looked back at you with a small grin on her face.
“C’mon,” you said, dragging her deeper into the mainland, “we have to find a ship close to the broadcast to-” You were cut off by a large explosion that was a few landing pads away. An explosion on landing pad nine to be exact. Aben was already running back, her short legs carrying her as quickly as they could. You followed, not far behind. The odds of Bodhi surviving a blast like that was very slim, and upon seeing the wreckage…
There was no sign of the loveable pilot anywhere. The sense of optimism you had felt only moments before, drained from your being. Not Bodhi; it was him that had lead all of you this far with his message from Galen, from papa. Somewhere deep in your heart you felt the overbearing pain of loss. You looked to Aben, who was firing at the remaining troopers.
“You monsters!” She screamed, hitting each trooper, more times than needed to kill them. When they were all laying motionless, Aben sunk to her knees. You rushed over to her, trying to get her up and moving.
“Bodhi didn’t deserve this! He was-” She was interrupted by her cries. Somehow you managed to get her up. “We have to keep going,” You said using your sleeve to wipe her tears away, “He would want the rest of us to get out safely.” She nodded, regaining her somewhat stony composure. She started to walk towards the tower, and you couldn’t help but feel like your friend had lost a part of her.
You and Aben had managed to find a usable Imperial ship at a loading bay closer to the broadcast tower. Aben was slumped against the interior of the ship, her arm across her face to hide her eyes. You knew that it was probably best not to press her about her feelings, you could see them clear was day anyway. You felt a tinge of worry when you thought of Cassian and Jyn. It had been a while since you all had landed on Scarif, but with so much loss a mere few hours could feel longer than normal. You found yourself standing outside on the ramp to the ship looking up at the sky. The Rebel Fleet was still fighting strong and the noise on the ground was overwhelming. Some of the fleet had managed to get past the shield and into Scarif, aiding in the soldiers on the ground. It was nice to see such unity amongst the rebels, but that only could lift our earth for so long.
Before you could turn around, you watched and saw the field of protection surrounding Scarif fade away. Two StarDestoryers fell, entangled with each other, heading towards Scarif’s surface. You ran back inside shaking Aben out of her trance.
“The Rebels have broken through the shield! Come look!” Aben slowly got up following you outside on the ramp. You tried to get Aben more excited, but the frown on her feature didn’t go away. When outside she got outside, she let out a gasp of horror at the scene playing out in front of her. You covered your mouth with your hand, feeling stinging tears in your eyes.
“No…..no….” You whispered, eyes catching the outline of the Death Star hanging in the sky. TIE fighters zoomed past towards the already aflame broadcast tower, but this wasn’t noticed by you. You eyes watched as the DeathStar unleashed a greenish beam of light that struck the surface of Scarif. A plume of dirt and smoke jumped up where the laser hit the ground, creating an ominous cloud of debris spreading out across the surface of the planet. Aben ran out and turned, beckoning you to follow. You did, and finally saw the wreckage of the broadcast tower. Immediately you reached out with the Force, searching for Jyn and Cassian.
“They’re alive,” you said to Aben, “go back in the ship and start it up. I’ll yell when I see them.” Aben nodded and ran back into the ship. You stood at the edge of the ramp, waiting for them to enter your view. You heard the hump of the ship starting and sighed in relief. It would all be okay now; it had to be, after all of that. When you saw the two limping forms of Jyn and Cassina you shouted, getting their attention. You could see Cassian’s smile from the ship and they started to run over faster. You noticed Cassian’s limp and the worry you felt amplified. You stepped closer to the end of the ramp, reaching for Cassian and Jyn as they drew closer. With a jolt, you fell on the ramp and felt it start to close. “Aben!! Open the ramp!” You screamed, seeing Cassian and Jyn speed up their approach.
“I’m not doing it, Y/N! It’s in like an autopilot mode. It’s...it’s heading to the DeathStar.” You could hear the malice in her voice when she spoke. Her itch for revenge growing with each second. You turned back and saw Cassian and Jyn reach the edge of the ramp.
“Y/N!” Cassian yelled, “What’s going on?”
“Aben can’t stop it! It’s in autopilot and she can’t override it!” Cassian’s face fell as you still rose up in the ship on the ramp. Jyn came towards you, reaching her hand through the sliver of space. Her fingers brushed your cheek, and she placed her kyber crystal necklace next to you. You looked up into her eyes, peaceful and strong, “Trust in the Force.” She whispered, pulling away as the ramp started to close faster. You laid on your belly now, tear streaming down your face. Cassian leaned up and you grabbed his hand through the closing pocket of space.
My friends I love this series with the more I write! This one has WAY MORE Cassian X Reader than planned but hey, you can’t go wrong with that now can ya!

Identity Part 3
“He’s gone…” you murmured into his shirt. You felt one of his hand stroke your hair, trying to soothe you. You could feel though the Force that Cassian was thinking of the family he lost and your heart almost shattered more. “I’m sorry.”
“For what Y/n?” He asked quietly. You took a breath, but you didn’t speak. You didn’t trust your own voice. When the embrace broke, you looked into his eyes and whispered, “For all that you have been through.” You both stared into eachothers eyes for a few moments longer, then hastily, Cassian walked away. You slumped against the nearest wall, feeling a little less hurt after his apology, but knowing what you knew now, you felt a heavy weight on your shoulders. The Rebellion would not be willing to take on the Empire knowing that they could only go on the word of your now dead father. You, and the rest of the group, would have to fight for this war.
The trip back to Yavin 4 seemed longer than it did the first time. After crying in Cassian’s arms, you walked back to your seat to find it was taken by Aben. Jyn was still sleeping, hopefully soundly. She would be the one to explain to the Rebel Alliance that she had no proof of the flaw, but that we still needed to attack. Galen told her something while they were on that bridge, but something in your gut said it wouldn’t be enough for the rebel leaders.
“Y/N, you need rest.” Aben said, looking at you and gesturing to the seat next to her. You took it, pacing your hands in your lap defeatedly.
“Did Captain Hot Pants say sorry? I gave him a piece of my mind in that cockpit, he got so annoyed with me, he left. I assumed to see you.” You nodded, leaning your shoulder against hers.
“Why are feelings so confusing?” You asked, rubbing your eyes.
“They wouldn’t be feelings if they weren’t!” She said sympathetically, “But you feel things so deeply, even for others. It’s what makes you such a great friend.” You smiled at Aben, who grinned back at you. Now that she was talking you decided it was best to finally ask your question,
“So are you going to tell me what landed you in my cell on that moon?” You asked, and Aben laughed. She shook her head, short brown hair shifting.
“I got into some bad people and work. It became my job to see if people were lying or hiding something. I became a spy to spy on other spies, when my family was hoping I would become a mechanic.” She let out a shaky laugh, “One day I was caught spying on the wrong Hutt and I was thrown on that damn moon.”
“A Hutt?” You asked, eyebrows raised. Aben smiled, “Nasty things, all gangster-like. Gross and slimy texture. And it was on that sandbox of a planet, Tatooine, but I met a nice smuggler there. Piece of junk ship though, let me tell ya.” You let out a laugh, happy to be distracted for a bit. You were thankful for your friend’s words and stories, but your head was still reeling from everything else. You bit your lip in thought of it all. The Force, your father, Cassian, the Rebellion. You needed some answers, and you needed them now. You got up, squeezing Aben’s hand in goodbye, and started to walk over to Baze and Chirrut. You sat down crossed legged, in front of the pair.
“Y/N, my child.” Chirrut said, sadness lingering in his voice, “You are troubled deeply.”
“Understandably. I’m sorry little sister.” Baze said, the man’s eyes meeting yours. You nodded in gratitude, then turned back to Chirrut.
“How could I have the Force?” You asked, causing the blind man’s brow to furrow. “Uh-oh he’s thinking….” Baze said with a smile, Chirrut slapped his friends shoulder at the comment.
“Normally the Force flows from family blood, but I sense no trace of the Force in Jyn. Perhaps your mother had it?” You shook your head. Lyra had never shown anything like the power of the Force. Both she and Galen would talk about it, along with the Jedi, but that was all.
“Maybe you were-”
“Adopted.” You turned your head and saw Jyn awake and standing behind you. Her lips stayed in a hard line as you stood to face her. Fear dripped out of your every pore, and Chirrut sensed it.
“What are you…”
“Father, he told me to tell you. I tried to but when I saw you at first you wouldn’t let me get the words out.” Jyn sighed, looking at the floor, “He said it was time you knew. To give hope.”
“Hope?!” You asked, shocked. “What does hope have to do anything with it!?” You felt a hand on your shoulder and Chirrut moved to stand next to you.
“Hope for the future of the Force, the Jedi. For everyone.” His words held your attention, flashing you back to a simpler time.
You wandered into the study, where you could see Galen typing away, his words showing up on his hologram. You stood quiet for a few minutes, your closed toed pjs made it so you could walk around without being heard. You would always scare mama early in the morning. Finally you got the nerve to speak up,
“Papa?” Your voice was hushed, but Galen heard it and turned to look at you.
“Hey my Sunshine, can’t sleep?” His deep voice boomed, and you nodded as he reached out to you. You darted into his arms, and he lifted you up into his lap. “Look at how big you’ve gotten! How old are you now?” Galen asked feigning confusion. You put five fingers up on your hands with a big grin on your small features. Galen smiled, settling you more comfortably on his lap.
“Why can’t you sleep?” You just shrugged, and cuddled into your papa’s chest for warmth. “How about a bedtime story, yeah? Sound good?” You nodded.
“There once was a little green man with pointy ears that traveled around the galaxy with a baby. He saved this baby from a vile fate. This little green man was going around testing families to see if they were worthy enough to take the baby from him. Finally, with word from his friend, the little green man traveled to a far off planet where dark beaches matched the night skies. There he found a small family, a mother, a father, and a little girl. The mother and father struggled to meet the man’s idea of the perfect family for this child. It was the little girl, who was perfect. The man placed the little baby in the daughter’s arms and said, “Protect this one you will. Until your dying breath.” and then he told the parents that the child was destined to help the galaxy and that they would suffer no longer. That there was hope for for everyone”
From his arms, you caught a glimpse of your papa, staring a bit off into space. His thin lips were set in a frown as if the story had a sad ending. You reached out, touching his beard and breaking his thought.
“It had a happy ending papa, why do you look sad?” You father took a deep, shaky breath and looked at you. In his arms you looked small and powerless, but he knew. He always knew.
“That peculiar story isn’t over, my Sunshine. Not yet.”
“He told me that.” you muttered, looking at the floor. Silence covered the cargo bay, even Aben didn’t say a word. The gears starting clicking in your brain and you felt sick to your stomach. You blindly searched for a place behind you to sit down, but found the floor.
“I’m sorry Y/N, but he made it seem urgent to tell you. He told me that before he even mentioned the plans.” Jyn’s voice seemed like an echo as thoughts raced through your mind. Who was your birth mother? Who was your true Father? Did you have a family? What fate did that little green man save you from? Your mind was reeling from it all.
“Alright, We just docked. Jyn are you ready-Y/N!” Cassian’s panicked voice reached your ears, as well as his footsteps rushing towards you. You felt his strong hands wrap around your wrists pulling your hands away from your eyes. You didn’t even know that you put them there. His eyes searched yours, looking for any sign of shock or trauma.
“What happened?!” he asked, looking at everyone's faces. No one answered and your head grew foggier with each moment. “Y/N what happened?!” His voice was softer when addressing you, but you felt yourself slipping.
“Someone's whole life unravel itself in front of their eyes.” Aben said, finally speaking up. It was the last thing you heard before you blacked out.
When you woke, the soft sheets under your fingers felt foreign to you. Your eyes flew open and took in the neat room around you. It was small, but the minimal furniture made it seem larger. You looked down at the cot you were on and saw your boots on the ground next to it. Before you could get up and explore a voice shook you from your thoughts.
“Hello sleeping beauty!” Aben said, grinning at you, ear to ear.
“Where are we?” You asked, rubbing your temples. A dull ache ran throughout your entire body causing you to groan.
“We landed on Yavin 4 right when you blacked out, which makes sense after all that happened.” You nodded, flashes of the moments before you fell unconscious made their way to you. The truth coming out, your life falling to shambles, and then Cassian’s eyes.
“Okay but where are we on Yavin 4?” Aben’s eyes glittered with mischief and a wicked grin crept onto her face. You raised an eyebrow and she started to laugh.
“Bet you’ll never guess who’s room we’re in!”
But you didn’t get the chance. Cassian entered the room, prompting Aben to stifle her laughter. You fought the urge to glare at the ex-prisoner as Cassian made his way to you.
“Are you alright? Jyn told me what happened.” His lips carried an understanding frown that his tone seemed to mimic.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m better. Aben do you think you can get me something for my head though?”
The girl snorted at your words before getting up.
“Of course my dear. Whatever you need.” Then she left the room, giving you a wink.
“So...you are adopted…” Cassian said, trailing off. All you did was nod, trying to figure what to say. “I can tell by the way Jyn looks at you that she will never stop being your older sister.” You looked up at his face, seeing the sincerity there. “Yeah, Only because she was told to protect me.” Cassian raised his eyebrow, then you proceeded to catch him up with the story that Galen told you as a child. When you finished, you felt hot tears burning in your eyes. Not again, not in front of him again. It didn’t seem to matter to the spy as he sat on his cot next to you, wrapping an arm around your shoulders. You fought the sobs, trying to seem strong. It worked a little, but it didn’t stop you from tucking your head under his chin.
“This, this doesn’t change who you are, Y/n. This only makes you more complex. It gives you a bigger family to love. To find.” He pulled away from you, cupping your face. He gave you a fond look as he used his thumbs to wipe away your tears. “How about after all this we try to find them, yeah?”
Your heart melted at his offer, and you barely managed to answer him with the softest ‘yes’ that has ever left your lips. He gave you a true smile and placed a kiss on your forehead. You could feel yourself blushing, but the Captain had pink tinted cheeks as well. His hands traveled down to your neck and pulled you closer. Your lips met in the middle softly at first, then in a frenzy. It was as if, with this kiss, Cassian held the power to heal any hurt in your heart. And for him, that you could look at his past and still see him as a person, as a human being. It was too little and too much all at once. It left you both breathless and wanting more. Cassian's brown eyes were wide as he caught his breath. After a moment, you couldn’t help yourself, you dragged him in for another kiss. It was slower this time, all the pent up energy finally being released when,
“Is it safe for me to come in?” Cassian chuckled against your lips, “No! Go away!” You giggled at his childish words, causing him to smile. Aben entered anyway, holding a hand near her eyes to shield them.
“You can put your hand down.”
“No, I’m hiding them from sin!” You laughed, and got up to take the pills from your friend. She put her hand down, revealing a serious look on her face. “If you hurt Y/n again Mr. Hot Pants I will end you and your droid!”
“Aben!”
“What?!” She asked, “It’s true!” You rolled your eyes, and went to sit back down next to Cassian. “I wouldn’t get comfy. Jyn just got out of the meeting and doesn’t look to happy.” You grumbled, and got up. Cassian followed with a smile and whispered, “It’s time I introduced you to a few of my friends.”
“They said no.”
“What?”
“They do know that we must fight right? Asked Baze, “I want to fight!”
“We all do.” Said Bodhi, his chocolate eyes somber.
“They just didn’t want to risk the men or the fire power.” Jyn added, looking defeated.
“I wouldn’t give up just yet!” Announced Aben as she rounded the corner. You and Cassian entered the scene, hands joined, and followed by a group of rag-tag fighters. “How many do we need?” You asked, smiling at Jyn. She rushed towards you and you met her with a tight hug.
“I’m sorry, Y/n I just papa made it seem like it was important and-”
“It is. Thank you for telling me, Jyn.” You squeezed her tightly before letting her go.
“Bodhi, do you need any help hotwiring a ship?” Aben asked the pilot, who just grinned in response.
You managed to find a shuttle that Bodhi could fly and that would hold everyone quite easily. Cassian set to splitting up teams, so when you all got to Scarif, everyone would know what to do. One team would stay on the ship, ready to be used as a distraction while another team, Cassian, Jyn, and K2, found the plans to the Death Star. Bodhi’s team would get ready to transmit the message to anyone listening. Another team, consisting of you and Aben, would go in search for a getaway ship. It seemed like a simple plan, what helped is the fact the Empire didn’t know you were coming. As Cassian finished prepping the troops, Jyn motioned for you to join her in the cockpit. When you got up there, she set you to work by packing guns. Suddenly a hissing sound came from the control module of the ship.
Bodhi’s nervous hands reached for the comm, “Hello?”
“What are you doing in that ship? It isn’t marked for take off.” Bodhi exchanged a look with you then K2 who was in the pilot's chair.
“We’re uh, uh just going for a supply run!”
“Oh great. You sounded really confident there.” Said K2, but you hushed him.
“It’s not marked. What’s your call sign?”
“Uh….” Bodhi started, looking at you. You raised your eyebrows.
“Say something.” You urged.
“R-Rogue.”
“Rogue?” Asked the man over the comm. Bodhi nodded and with a smile added,
Thank you all so much for the support on the first part! I’m still in the process of writing all the parts, there will be about five. (Again remember my friends, this is an AU of sorts. Not all details from the movie are in my writing, and a few of the events in my writing never occur in the movie.)I hope you all enjoy!!
Cassian and K2, stood before the entire team, giving the briefing you had heard before. “So everyone get buckled in. We’ll be arriving at the Imperial Base soon.” You made eye contact with the Captain before he returned to his seat. He gave you a small smile, which made you blush like mad. You looked and saw Aben and Bodhi giving you eyes and gesturing towards Cassian, causing you to roll your eyes. Great, Aben had gotten Bodhi into the joke now too.
“We get to see papa again, Jyn. Isn’t this great?” You asked turning towards your sister who gave you a smile. But as you watched her that smile turned to a frown; and despite all the hope around you, you couldn’t help but feel like you were out of place.
“NO! Get farther down! They can track us if we stay above the cliffs!”
“You heard him Kaytoo! Lower!”
“I do not like this. The chance of collision is 50 times greater now that we are closer to the surface! There’s a 60% chance of failure.”
“Not now K!”
“There it is!”
“Bodhi get into a seat! It’s going to be a harsh landing!”
Cassian’s warning caught you off guard and panic surged through your body. You and Jyn were so close at seeing your papa again. Yet so close to having it all in flames, and it’s not fair. The shuttle jolted as it hit the cliffs, causing you to reach for Jyn’s hand and squeeze your eyes shut. The rough ‘landing’ was over quickly and the ship was still in one piece, more less. When Cassian announced that it was safe to get up, you unfastened your seat restraint and released Jyn’s hand from your death grip.
“You alright there Y/n?” You turned a glared at Aben jokingly, which caused her to giggle. You walked over to her and Bodhi, greeting the rogue pilot and thanking him for the news of your father. “It’s no problem! As soon as I knew what the Empire was really planning, Galen contacted me. You should thank him when you see him!”
You smiled at the pilot, “I will. And even though Jyn doesn’t show it she’s grateful for you as well. She’s just nervous about seeing papa again, after so many years.” You and Aben continued to talk to Bodhi until Cassian waved him over. As Bodhi walked away, Aben nudged your arm.
“I’m sticking close to you. The Captain may be hot, but I’m not blinded by that like you are. He’s up to something.”
“How can you tell?” You asked, looking at Aben and seeing a darkness in her mind. She looked back at you, her lips in a hard line. “I never told you how I got into jail.”
“Bodhi and I are going to scout out further ahead. We’ll find a new ship to use since this one is unusable. The rest of you stay here.” The two men disembarked, leaving the rest of you in silence.
“Does he look like a killer?” Chirrut asked after a moment, his unseeing gaze following the path where Cassian had left.
“No.” Baze answered, “He has the face of a friend.” but there was something in his eyes that betrayed his voice. You walked towards the blind man, arms crossed over your chest.
“What do you mean?”
“People get this aura about them, a dark cloud, when they’re about to do something bad.” Chirrut’s words echoed in your head. You turned back to look at Aben, who carried a grave expression on her features. Jyn was already getting her things, picking up her blaster, ready to follow them. You darted over to her as she was about to exit the ship.
“You’re taking me with you!” Jyn just stared at you, with that older sister look, “I’m not putting your life in danger! I did it before, and never again. Stay here with Aben.” She was halfway out the door when the droid spoke up.
“Careful Jyn! Cassian set his rifle in sniper mode.”
It had only been a few minutes after Jyn left and you were pacing the floor of the shuttle. Aben had been trying to calm you down, telling you that if Cassian truly cared about the fate of the galaxy, he wouldn’t hurt your father. If he truly cared for you.
Bodhi returned to the ship, bearing the news that Cassian had been looking through the scope of his blaster for Galen.
“But I found a ship we can use! Kaytoo, I need your help prepping it!” The droid got up, following the pilot out the door, but he gave you an almost sad look before he left. You felt like you were about to cry. Not only was Jyn out there, trying to save your father from Cassian but you felt so betrayed by the captain.
“Well, I’m not just going to sit here.” Said Chirrut, grabbing his staff. Baze groaned and rolled his eyes.
“You’re going to get yourself killed.” Baze said, watching Chirrut with annoyed eyes.
You got up, walking toward him, your curiosity getting the better of you.
“Chirrut, was it the Force that showed you what Cassian was planning?” The blind man nodded, and took a step towards you. He reached out a hand, and placed it to the side of your face.
“I sense a power within you, unlike any other I have ever felt before. You are strong with the Force, Y/n, and you carry a power only a Jedi could master. Reach out with it, close your eyes, feel it.”
Your eyes shut voluntarily, and you could almost feel the raindrops hitting your face as you gazed out toward the base with the Force. You saw Cassian running down the cliff side, panic in his heart. You heard the loud roar of Rebellion fighters and the blasts as they fired on the base.
Your eyes flew open, as you clutched your chest, your heart. You felt the tears in your eyes burning. It was like your dream, the pain that had coursed through your body there, burned in your veins. With this heartache, you reached out again, and saw the scene. You saw Cassian trying to pull Jyn away from Galen, who lie lifeless on the ground. Your papa…all those hopes of seeing him, alive, gone. All you had now was Jyn and your own memories.
“My child,” Chirrut said, resting a hand on your shoulder, “I am so sorry.”
You turned towards the window, looking out into the rain, and saw the Rebellion fleet continue to fire at the base. An explosion rocked the planet as Jyn and Cassian made their way back over the rise. Troopers followed closely behind them, and as they jumped in the shuttle, an Imperial ship fired at the troopers. You let out a gasp, and reached for Jyn’s hand. The ramp of the ship went down and Bodhi stood beckoning the rest of you to board the ship. All of your ran through the rain and into the working ship.
When you got in, you turned to Jyn, her cheeks wet with fallen tears that were hidden in the rain drops on her face. You ran over to her, hugging her tightly.
“He’s gone..Y/n..he said, he told me to-”
“I know Jyn, I know.” The rest of your speech was slurred by sobs from both your and your sister. You felt a hand on your shoulder, causing you to jerk away, from your sister and the hand.
“You.” You said turning to Cassian. His brown eyes were worried, but this time you weren’t fooled, “You were going to kill him! I trusted you!” You screamed, Aben had to hold you back from hitting him. “Is this what the Rebellion is?! Killing those who help them!? Your wretched cause means nothing!”
Aben and Jyn dragged you away from Cassian, and he retreated up to the cockpit. Baze and Chirrut grew quiet and after that ordeal, settled in to get some rest. Aben, after you getting somewhat calm, climbed up into the cockpit. Jyn sat next to you, taking your hand but not speaking.
At some point Jyn had fallen asleep on the way back to the rebel base. Your mind was too muddled to even think about sleep. You could use the Force for one, you had used it so see your papa die in your sister’s arms. To see the man you felt something for turn his back on you. You could feel the pain still lingering in your heart, fresh and burning.
“Do not give in to the darkness, young one. It is a path that leads to more pain. Greater to what you feel now. There was once a very powerful Jedi that gave into the dark side….” Chirrut trailed off, from where he was sitting you couldn’t see the sincerity in his blind eyes. “When he fell into the darkness, he caused this. The fall of the Jedi, the rise of the Empire. Heed my warning now.” You shifted in your seat, and uneasy feeling in your gut. This fallen Jedi had caused this, your papa to die; what a monster.
“Thank you Chirrut. You won’t need to worry about me.” He nodded at your words, content with your answer. During Chirrut’s story, Cassian had clambered down into the passenger hold. He had been staring at you as you listened to the Force sensitive man, so when you met his lingering gaze, he blushed slightly. He slowly walked over to you, bending down to look up at you.
“Could I speak to you in private?” His voice seemed strong, but his eyes held a sad mystery. You decided to pity the man, and got up to speak with him. You followed him to the back of the ship, behind Imperial cargo. He turned to face you, and you almost wanted to cry again. Using the Force you could feel his guilt, his sorrow, and a small glint of hope. It was all too overwhelming. You couldn’t stop yourself as you grabbed his hands and held them in your own. He shifted his gaze toward them as he spoke :
“I didn’t kill your father, I went against my strict orders from the Rebellion to do so. I know that doesn’t justify any actions I took, I just wanted you to know. I want you to know that when…” he lifted his face, to meet your eyes then continued, “when I was out there, I couldn’t stop thinking about how my orders would make you feel. I care about how you feel, Y/n. Kaytoo said that this was a bad idea, to get an attachment to you, but my feelings…they are…”
He didn’t need to finish his sentence. You leaned into him, pressing your hands to his chest, feeling his heartbeat. You buried your face in his shoulder as he wrapped his arms around you in a soft hug. You felt new tears behind your eyes, and willed them not to fall.
You slumped against the nearest wall, feeling a little less hurt after his apology. Knowing what you knew now, you felt a heavy weight on your shoulders. The Rebellion would not be willing to take on the Empire knowing that they could only go on the word of your now dead father. You, and the rest of the group, would have to fight for this war.
