At the part when Gou was scolding Nagisa for his unhealthy eating, when she said "Don't you have any awareness of the fact that you're an athlete?" I felt that was a look of genuine hurt on Nagisa's face. Like it's been discussed previously, Nagisa struggles with a lot of insecurities about himself; his body, his abilities as a swimmer, his fears of not being good enough to swim with the others. Knowing him, Nagi may have taken her chastising as her confirming these fears (unkowingly, of course)
Aw I noticed this too, and wondered if it could be foreshadowing for next episode? Gou obviously didn’t intend to hurt Nagisa’s feelings; she has to be harsh to keep these maniacs in line. But Makoto, who knows of Nagisa’s body insecurities and his feelings of inadequacy, picked up on it.
It would be awesome if Nagisa's insecurities could be addressed in his official angst episode next week! These feelings can't go on :( And he can't stand and pout by himself when he is surrounded by friends who appreciate him.
I hope he heard Gou's words afterwards, reminding him he is part of one body through a team. This should remind him that his abilities are good enough and that they all collectively need to improve. But whether or not he fully gets that that means he is enough is another question.
