ESC2015: FYR Macedonia and Malta
I was going to do these two separately but it’s been so long since FYROM’s selection that I’m going to lump them together, I’m sure Jon Ola Sand will forgive me
FYR Macedonia kicks off the season with a rather underwhelming song, and honestly the most noticeable thing about the performance is his shoes. It has some good moments, but is overall just a slog for me to get through, not to mention the terrible mixing at the national final which will hopefully be adjusted by May, but I don’t see FYR Macedonia in the final this year.
I do think this is a good song, and to add to that, she commands a stage well and has a lot of voice, but it gets screechy at times, especially the first note in each chorus. Personally I think she would do well to extend that note a bit so that it doesn’t take you by surprise, but she can do what she likes so long as it sounds good in May. The NF itself shows just how well juries will take to this one, and if European audiences agrees, Top 10 is not out of the question.
