Hey :)
(Asking from my main here)
How about Cas or Dean or Sam or all of them buying Jack the bear from tonight's episode? Or Dean and Cas taking him to the toystore and them being all cute?
Not sure if this is enough to be a prompt, if not, it's all okay.
Ps. I love your writing :)
Cas coming home in the middle of cake was the cherry on top of Jack’s birthday, but Dean can still see the kid’s smile fade as the night goes on. They rib Sam about his date, they fill Cas in on the holiday cheer, Jack eats too much cake. But then, before it even gets that late, he pushes up from the table and announces that he’s tired, going to bed. The kid doesn’t sleep but he’s always needed time to himself, to recharge, so Dean, Sam and Cas let him go.
It’s only been fifteen minutes or so, Sam wearing a full Little Brother smirk and telling Cas about Dean’s nightgown, when Dean stands up suddenly. He clears his throat, shifts his weight, and then announces that he’s just going to check on Jack. He barely makes it to the hallway before Cas is joining him.
“I just wanna make sure he’s okay, after he knocked down the door like that.”
“After he what?” Cas prompts. Dean winces a little but just waves it off. The look Cas gives him suggests that they will be discussing that more. But then they’re at Jack’s room and he doesn’t answer when they knock so Dean gentles the door open.
There he is, curled up, asleep. He’s on top of the covers, hair falling over his face, and he’s wrapped around some kind of teddy bear. Dean sighs, relieved to see the kid at ease, and steps into the room. He finds a throw blanket over a chair and smooths it over Jack. And then he can’t help but lift a hand to Jack’s forehead, push his hair back. When he turns, Cas is leaning against the door jamb, watching, fondness rolling off him in waves.
“Where’d he get that bear?” Dean asks, once they’re out in the hallway again. They’re walking together, to Dean’s room, close enough that their hands brush with every step.
“I bought it for him. Before he was born, of course. Marvelous Marvin. It’s supposed to encourage speech readiness and social skills.”
Dean doesn’t know about that but something squeezes in his chest, to know that the teddy bear Jack so obviously loved had come from Cas. “You ever forget that he really is just, like, a three year old?” He opens his bedroom door, lets Cas walk in ahead of him.
“No, which is why I’d like to discuss him knocking down a door further.”
