Just an idea but imagine its the 90s and this super popular show called Strangers blew up after one season. It's a normal teen show, no fantasy elements. No one expected it to be this big but its no wonder bc its surprisingly progressive for the times, with great female characters, diverse cast and male characters actually confronting their sexism.

They held open auditions, sort of like Skins, so most of the cast doesn't have any previous acting experience. It should be a con but honestly it makes the show feel more real, like those are real characters, not actors playing them.

Everyone loves El and Nancy and Joyce. And there are fangirls all over the world with Team Steve and Team Jonathan merch. It's a huuge hit world wide.

Steve Harrington becomes a big celebrity overnight and everyone asks him about his beautiful hair. He tries to not to feed into rumors about him dating his costar Nancy Wheeler even though his agents asks him to feed into the hype. He does only to take some heat of Nancy and Jonathan's back who are actually dating in real life

So they're making season 2, new people join in. We get Max who plays a new regular. And then there's supposed to be a guy playing her older brother and a new school bully. There's a few meets, table reads, practice and so on. Billy Hargrove never shows up. The directors say they want it to be a surprise and they want it to be this sort of Bill Saarsgard situation in It where they want everyone (but mostly the kids) to meet him while he's in costume and in character for the best effect. Because the first scene they're filming is the fight scene in The Byers House.

Steve hates this approach. He's a rookie actor, The Strangers is his first ever role. He likes to know his costars way before they start filming, to get a feel for them, to decide what his character thinks of them.

So Billy not being there is a bit of inconvenience but whatever. If thats what the directors think is best.

The truth is that, just as most of the actors Billy is not an actual actor, has no acting experience or, to be honest, he auditioned on a whim because the role struck a nerve with him because he comes from a similar background as the character, a poor abused kid from a broken family. He didn't ever think he was gonna get a callback but he did and his whole life is about to change. But first, he is in custody on a looting charge and running away from the scene in a stolen vehicle. Only he, out of his 4 'friends' got caught. The creators of the show find out their main and only pick for their new character is about to go to jail, they pull some strings for him and get him out, on one condition - no petty crimes, no hanging out around criminals, he agrees to act in the show and move out to Hawkins (the town where they film the show) for the next 6 months. He has no choice and agrees. But is very uncooperative the whole time.

He doesn't even have an agent. He barely read the script or knows his character or other characters or actors. By the time they get him out of jail and to Hawkins, it's filming time and he has to film the first bit of the fight scene at the Byers House. The kids are terrified of him because he plays his character as unhinged, and he is, he unbuttons his shirt to his navel, puts on his dagger earring, stinks like smoke, barely knows his lines and improvises most of them, changes his character motivations halfway through, unhappy with his character being a stereotypical bully. Gives him the motivation of protecting his little step sister from this creepy high school senior. He calls Steve's character pretty boy while Doing Things with his tongue. And to top it off - actually headbutts Steve in the face at the end of the day because no one told him they had stunpeople and stunt coordinators for that.

Anyway that's the first impression everyone gets of him - crew things he's unprofessional, kids are scared of him and Steve thinks he's a total asshole (and a method actor, not knowing it's his actual personality hehe).

I wonder what happens when the next scene between them is the shower scene in the locker room where Billy just has a great time flirting and flexing while Steve tries to not break character.

As they get to know each other more, Steve finds out maybe Billy's not as bad as he thought. And the headbut just becomes a funny story to tell in interviews 😉

So wild CACW still cheeses my biscuit, because I saw this post saying Steve’s flaw in the film, Team Cap’s, was why didn’t they trust Tony and Tony wanted to help Bucky and if they’d just told him about Zemo... SCREAMS.

This is why this movie’s framing is wack! The “So was I” and multiple Tony and Steve convos and every Avengers movie that tries to mash them together... there is no friendship there people. They don’t interact unless it’s ness and they don’t relate. Why should Steve trust Tony? There is nothing in canon that sets a precedent, that is their main issue, and like Tony never gives back, I don’t care how many things he flies into. 

Tony in Avengers 1 is mocking to Steve. He works on Project Insight. He builds Ultron and then Vision explicitly against Steve’s opinion. 

Then in Civil War alone he sets them up for Ross without telling them, he does not show up for Peggy’s funeral, he is not a support for Steve like Natasha shows herself to be friend-wise, he shows up in Germany purely to salvage his politics re the accords. He was not there to help Bucky. Nor Steve or Sam. He doesn’t know or relate to them personally, why should they back? Seriously Steve and he know each other so little that they work together but he doesn’t know Tony and Pepper broke up and was thinking pregancy! This is not a close understanding. And what part of telling someone you wish you could punch them for their morals infers a trust? He slips and confesses to Steve he’s holding Wanda without consent. He’s Ross’ yes man, also recruiting Spider-man and hiding him away as well prior to any inkling of what Steve and co are up too, and oh yes, at the airport with Black Panther, who has sworn to Steve’s face to be out to kill. 

I’m not sorry but Tony and Steve only seem to interact because they have to. There is is nothing there to build a trust or a like. They aren’t friends and they shouldn’t be and that would be fine except for an dumb movie and it’s POV so far up it’s versus ass it desperately tries to say that to hinge a narrative reason Tony is relevant at all. Because in a Cap film, he’s not.

When i was little, I looked up to Mr. Rogers and Steve Irwin. I don't know why, but they were my role models.
