Okay okay okay HEAR ME OUT

Will discovering he is going to get vecna'd and, between the many nerdy pieces of knowledge he has, Mike knows sign language. So he puts a pair of headphones on Will's head with his favorite song playing and spends every moment he can teaching Will because his boyfriend is NOT getting hurt.

He is keeping those headphones onto his head at ALL times, even in his sleep, he is NOT dying and Michael is NOT losing him. They can talk to each other without him taking off the headphones and Mike will gladly translate to everyone else at the speed of light. They have all the time in the world to talk after they've defeated that red monster asshole.

And he is NOT leaving him alone one second of the day, since it puts him at a higher risk of slipping into one of Vecna's visions. He's sticking to him at all times.

Pets That Would Suit Each of the Losers/Pets I Think the Losers Would Have

Richie

Rats - He would first get into rats because he wanted a pet that has a lot of personality but is fairly low maintenance (he quickly learns that he was wrong on the low maintenance part). He definitely ends up falling in love with them and lets them wander around the house all the time. He has two of those Double Critter Nation cages, and he has connected them to make a ratty mansion. I truly feel like he would fall into his love for rats with full force. 

Great Dane - I don’t know if I necessarily see Richie getting a dog, but if he did, I think a Great Dane would be a good fit. They are super calm and really just go with the flow, but are still very goofy. 

Tarantula - Obviously, in the canon universe, I don’t exactly see Richie being a big spider guy, but in an AU, I could see him loving Tarantulas. I can picture a scenario where he and Eddie are at a petstore for some reason, and Eddie makes a big deal about the tarantulas being gross.. But doesn’t actually seem scared of them. Of course, later, Richie goes back and gets one, mostly to mess with Eddie. He ends up finding them to be really cool, though. I don’t see him having a whole spider collection, but I think maybe two or three. 

Stanley

Dove, Pigeon, or Crow (rescue) - I know Stan is ‘the bird guy’ but I don’t see him getting one of the stereotypical pet birds like parrots, parrakeets, or cockatiels. I think they would be too energetic and destructive for him. I see him seeking out a calmer species, but still one that is intelligent and loyal. I also see him seeking out a rescue bird that someone decided was too much for them. He probably had an enclosure already set up and just waited until he found one that would be the perfect fit. 

Bugs/Blue Feigning Death Beetle - This is probably (definitely) me projecting, but I like to think that Stan has a special interest in entomology. I think he would be very picky in the type of bugs he would be okay with owning, though. None that he would perceive as dirty. Blue Feigning Death Beetles would be a good fit for him. They are neat and clean bugs that can easily be kept on sand (which can easily be changed). I think he would really just enjoy watching them. I also think he might enjoy isopods, mantises, and other beetles. 

Chinchilla - I was a little iffy on this one. Chinchillas are sort of messy, like all mammals tend to be. But Chinchillas are very shy and gentle compared to other pet rodents/exotic mammals. I could just see him rescuing an elderly chinchilla and giving it the best home during its golden years. 

Bill

Bill is a dog person through and through. I have a really hard time seeing him having any other pet besides a dog. 

German Shepherd - I associate Bill so heavily with German Shepards and I think they would be a really good dog breed for him. I feel like a Garman shepherd would match his energy level well. 

Belgian Malinois, German Shorthair Pointer, or Staffordshire Terrier - I feel like the same could be said about these breeds matching his energy, but I don’t associate them with him as heavily. I think he would really like a dog that needs a lot of mental stimulation and dedication.

Mike

I truly think animals are drawn to Mike, and he has ended up taking animals in, nursing them back to health, and/or fostering them until they can find a good home. I don’t see many of those animals staying long-term, but I do think he has always had animals in his life. 

Collie - I imagine that when looking for a pet, he would want something that reminded him of the farm, but didn’t necessarily need to live on a farm. I think a Collie would be a good dog breed for that. Plus, Collies are known for being devoted and gentle, and both of those things scream Mike to me. 

Rabbit (Flemish Giant) - I’ve always thought that Mike would have a rabbit, and they are the animals I most heavily associate with him. I think he would enjoy a rabbit with a lot of personality and one that is ‘dog-like’, which is why I think a Flemish Giant would be good for him. I can also see him dedicating a whole room of his house to the rabbit. 

Dalmatian - Mike would mesh well with a Dalmatian. They are a bit jumpy and need someone who is calm and patient, and Mike would be perfect for that. They also need a lot of exercise and attention, and I feel like that would maybe be a good thing to pull him away from getting too lost in his head when doing Derry research. It could pull him away when he has been sitting there for hours rereading his own notes and writing new stuff down, he would look over and see his dog getting antsy, and he would be like, ‘okay, it’s time for a break’. 

Cat - I don’t necessarily see Mike seeking out a cat, but I do think Mike has stumbled across a stray cat that was drawn to him, and he instantly felt like he needed to take it home. He would probably fall in love with this cat and end up keeping it. (Mike is a victim of the cat distribution system)

Eddie

Jack Russel Terrier, Biewer Terrier, and/or Toy Fox Terrier - I don’t think Eddie is much of an animal person; he thinks they are dirty, loud, and annoying. So of course, when he does decide to get an animal, he ends up with a terrier (terror). I don’t exactly know how I think it happens, but once he gets this dog, he is proven right about everything (less so about the dirty, but more destructive), and he ends up secretly loving it. He tells everyone how annoyed he is with the dog, but he also ends up babying it and giving it everything it wants. 

Beverly

Cat - I can either see her owning a fat, lazy tomcat or a spunky little cat. Maybe she would have both? I can see her having both. I just really think she would love cats and be a cat person. 

Bull terrier or Komondor - If Beverly did end up getting a dog, I feel like she would lean towards something more unique. I think a Komondor would suit her better just because I think their personalities would go better together, and they are lower maintenance when it comes to training and the amount of stimulation they need. But I could see her having a Bull Terrier as well.

Ben

 Golden Retriever, English Mastiff, Irish Wolfhound - He is another one that I can only see owning a dog. I think he would like a sweet and laid back dog. Though at the end of Chapter Two we see him with a Dutch Sepherd, I truly think that those would be too energetic and destructive for him. I think a laid back dog would fit his lifestyle and personality better.

You know how they’re releasing an El & Max book? Could you IMAGINE if they eventually release a Mike & Will book?? I’d go absolutely insane, purchase it immediately when it’s available, and read it ASAP. Oh and I’m still waiting for Will’s book and Mike’s book. Like, hello? They’re the only two from the kids that haven’t gotten a book yet. Why?? Even Robin has one. I love Robin but she was introduced in season 3 whereas Will and Mike were there from the beginning. And Robin is getting another book with Nancy. Like, c’mon give me books of my boys too! 🥺
