That was what Esredes had said to him. There were people that had done worse then, and Heilyn had treated him like shit from the get-go. He was a fool blinded by fear but, gods… Alastor had not been wrong in what he’d seen. And Heilyn felt horrible in that moment for all he’d said and done. Everything that he now wanted to take back in an instant.
He didn’t hesitate now.
Heilyn pulled the smaller Elezen into another tight hug the second the words left his mouth. Whatever sort of hell this man had been put through, he didn't deserve it. Very few deserved it. "I'm so sorry, Esredes. Sorry for what I have done and whatever else you've endured. Such pain is unnecessary, it furthers nothing to anyone. You've clearly endured so much pain so please. Let me help grant you a bit of peace now. The war is over, but there is a new one to fight. Know that you don't have to fight this one alone. I'm right here."
And in his mind he swore he would be. Heilyn knew first hand the sort of pain loneliness could bring. The fear, the anguish. He would not let this man face it without a fighting chance. He may be broken, but Heilyn had picked up his own pieces before. Yet not without others help. He would be Esredes help, that he swore. This man would not have to fight alone any more... ---- ...I was going to do something with Sera then I found that rant in a bunch of old hypothetical senarios so I was like: ...Well. This is happening. I think this was one of the first few screenshots I ever took with @crimsonfluidessence of these two as well. :)
