Bellona

A war goddess often conflated with the Greek goddess Enyo. She, like her counterpart, represented violence, bloodshed, and brutality, said to ride with the war god Mars into battle with the reigns of his horse-drawn chariot. She has an earlier, possibly Sabine origin, and was often found alongside the Anatolian goddess Cybele. Her priests, the bellonarii, were similar to Cybele's galli in the sense that they self-harmed as worship for their deity. Bellona's temples are also mentioned as being in close proximity to eastern deities often, notably Isis, Anubis, and Serapis as well as Cybele, possibly leaning her toward a foreign-viewed origin among Romans. Later poetry and artwork make heavy use of Bellona as a political symbol, spirit, and muse, often attributing things like warhorns and cannons to her as well and emphasizing her importance.

Character Traits: Violent and brutal but sometimes viewed as simply powerful and to be admired.

Idk how many times I've found posts about Ares being this cutie patootie golden retriever or how the Romans were BAD because they """divided""" Athena in two goddesses, but I'm tired, honestly. And I say this as someone that read the books and took some time to make their own researches.

No, the Romans didn't copy the Greeks, both Roman and Greek cultures are Indoeuropean cultures. This means that many deities and myths have similarities, because these people were all connected.

Give yourself some time to educate yourself about these ancient cultures, about their history, their traditions, their philosophy. Trust me, it's so worth your time.

P.S. with Ares being worshipped in Sparta, I mean that Spartans were probably the ones that saw him slightly better than the rest of Greece lmao. He probably had more followers in Sparta, but this doesn't mean that people liked him and he was worshipped as much as other gods and goddesses

As Nerio was an ancient war goddess and the personification of valor.

As goddess of war, Enyo is responsible for orchestrating the destruction of cities, often accompanying Ares into battle.
