Excited for the @pawpatrolmovie coming Aug. 20? This commissioned etch a sketch drawing was created for a publication recently in just a few hours using an Etch A Sketch Master technique called shadow tracing. Here’s how: 1. place a clear transparency of the image over the screen. 2. Place one directional light over the etch a sketch screen so the transparency casts a shadow below onto the drawing surface. 3. Carefully draw a simple line to the shadow. 4. Then remove the transparency and fill in the lines. 5. Continue to carefully clean and “crisp” the line-weight drawing free-hand using original drawing as a guide. And soon you will have a drawing like this in less time it would take to draw from just “eyeing” the image.
