Since the Grill was fairly empty at this time of day, Tim was wandering around and delivering various orders to tables on the rare moments that there was an order to deliver, which is how he found himself wandering over to a male that appeared to be about the same age as his cousin. “Uh- I believe this is yours?” He held up the plate of food somewhat awkwardly, setting it on the edge of the table.

Long day? Understatement. At least she had time to go out dancing and try and take her mind off of things. Was the gas bill paid? No. But she was working her ass off, and hopefully after tomorrow’s shift they’d turn the heat back on. Fiona was stressed, to say the least. And now here she was, at 2:30 in the morning, standing in her front yard and holding herself back from going inside. She might cry - she wouldn’t do that in front of the kids (none of them should be awake - granted, however that never seemed to stop them). Taking a deep breath she rubbed at her shoulder, hearing the footsteps and glancing up, a defensive look on her face. “You make it a habit of s t a l k i n ’ the streets at night?”

She knew that Stefan hadn’t wanted to be a vampire for as long as she’d known him, and now he got to be human. He’d gotten what he’d wanted at her expense.

Everyone got what they wanted at her expense.

She’d done it to survive. If she hadn’t, he’d have killed her with no remorse, and would have gone on to do it to Elena and God knows how many other people. He’d done it to Enzo, and she couldn’t save him.

And it killed her.

She thought that Stefan having the rest of his human life to feel crippling guilt for what he did would have comforted her.

But it didn’t.

When all was said and done, Enzo was still dead.

“Stay away from me.” She heard his footsteps behind her. She didn’t have to turn her head to know it was him, coming to grovel.
