STELLA TENNANT PHOTOGRAPHED BY STEVEN MEISEL
VOGUE ITALIA SEPTEMBER 2011
Stella Tennant’s homage to Ethel Granger
THE DISCIPLINE OF FASHION — Stella Tennant wears a corset designed by Deborah Milner in a story photographed by Steven Meisel for the September Issue of Vogue Italia 2011, inspired by Ethel Granger, who was controversially known as the woman with the smallest waist (33cm) due to tightlacing at the request of her husband, who had a fetish for corsets.
I highly encourage people to read about Ethel Granger, as her story is incredibly interesting and educational.

The late Stella Tennant photographed by Steven Meisel for the September 2011 issue of Vogue Italia. The stylist was Karl Templer, inspired by Ethel Granger, a British pioneer of piercings and body modification; Granger loved corsets and is known to have had one of the smallest (if not the smallest) on record.
