I think we briefly discussed it once but I would love to know more about how Ethel copes with her crush on Lysander 😆

Coping is a strong word. Does Ethel cope? I’m not sure, really…

Ethel first started developing a crush on Lysander at Jim’s wedding (though Ivy Anders would say that they both had a crush on each other from when they were teenagers). At first, she didn’t even realise that the handsome blond wizard she was admiring from the distance even was Lysander; she hadn’t seen him in a while, and especially not scrubbed up so well. She spent the rest of the day and night descending into an existential crisis, culminating with a DMC with Selene in the bathroom.

In the few months following the wedding, Ethel tried her hardest to not think about Lysander at all. But, try as she might, she couldn’t STOP thinking about him and how his stupid face gave her stupid butterflies whenever she saw him, which now seemed to be all the time, because they kept bumping into each other. Completely accidentally on both of their parts, of course. I mean, how was Ethel supposed to know what time Lysander would be in Diagon Alley leaving work? And obviously he had to go into the Wizarding Law department to research an article, it wasn’t his intention to see Ethel. Of course not.

What do you mean, Lysander’s hair is turning pink? What do you mean, Ethel is getting flustered? It’s not. She’s not. They’re fine, nothing to see here, move along.

Hogwarts Legacy Appreciation Week - Day 4

My Favourite Ships That Aren't Mine

This is my entry for the fourth day of @endlessly-cursed Hogwarts Legacy Appreciation Week.

We all love our own ships dearly, but we also have this one (or these many) ships amongst our mutuals and their OCs we just can't get enough of. So here's my two picks for this day - because really, how could you decide between these two?

Ethelys - Ethel Hexley x Lysander Mercury:

Ethel belongs to my beloved @the-al-chemist, Lysander to the fabulous @slytherindisaster

Ethel and Lys are the epitome of enemies/rivals to lovers, change my mind. Both of them incredibly headstrong and quick-witted, they never missed a chance to bicker, banter and insult each other, fully convinced the other just must be the worst person on the planet.

But, as we grow older, we all learn to change our minds, don't we? 😏

These two and their dynamic have so much chemistry, fun and potential. Learning about them - whether it's through art, shorts, or headcanons - never fails to make me chuckle.

Reubeila - Leila Hellebore x Reuben Willows:

Half-demon gremlin child belongs to my dear @whatwouldvalerydo, Reuben to the sweetheart that is @that-scouse-wizard

Reubeila was the first Legacy ship I started to engage with properly and for that alone they will always hold a special place inside my heart.

Reuben and Leila are both so different from each other (and not only talking about this phenomenal height difference) and so unlikely on the first glance. But if you look closer, these two make so much sense. They empower each other when they need it and are there to catch the other when dealing with their pretty depressive family matters. They make each other better, stronger and softer all at the same time.

A very special shoutout to their modern versions in @whatwouldvalerydo incredible Coffee Shop AU Today's Special. I'm living for this story, I'm living for this ship and I'm incredibly thankful to have it (and you) in my life. 💛

Thank you @whatwouldvalerydo and @that-scouse-wizard for creating a ship that shows us that no matter how different we appear, if two hearts beat the same, they are unstoppable.

Thank you!!!! Now, word on the street is that @lifeofkaze is setting up a Valentines writing challenge… I may or may not have sneaked a look at one of the prompts and thought of a perfect story for our own beloved Ethelys, which involves Ivy deciding to use reverse psychology in an attempt to make them realise their feelings for each other. Will it work? Only time will tell.

For your second book, I raise you the HPMA kids on a Muggle Studies school residential trip… with Arthur Weasley as the “parent” volunteer.

hey hey hey! i hv an ask ab clethel because I ADORE THEIR FRIENDSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!! ok so obv we now know ethel eventually gets her happily ever after with that hunk lysander mercury. my q is, at any point in ethel’s trying to prove her friendship with cledwyn, did she ever get a little crush on him, even if it only lasted a week? thx ur the goat!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Hi HMH!!!!! 💛 the great thing about Ethel is that she’s such an obnoxious but well-meaning brat that all her interactions have great potential for comedy. Obviously, Lysander is a hottie (hands up if Leo DiCaprio was your first ever crush 🙋🏽‍♀️) but there is a great chemistry between Ethel and Cled as well, even if it has only ever been completely and entirely platonic.

Or has it?! Cledwyn didn’t admit that he actually enjoyed Ethel’s company until their fifth year, and it was really only in their sixth year (by which point Ethel had noticeably calmed down and matured) that they became really close. Close to the point that the Hogwarts rumour mill had churned out some salacious gossip on the subject (I’m going to blame Anastasia and Lysander for this).

This actually made Ethel think: perhaps in pursuing Cledwyn as a friend, she had gone too far (she often took things too far). Perhaps she had unintentionally caused him to fall in love with her. Having discussed the matter in depth with her best friend and soul-sister Selene, the two girls came to the conclusion that this probably wasn’t such a bad thing. After all, Cledwyn was nice fellow deep down, he was a good quidditch player, and not bad to look at, either (I mean, have you seen Kit Harrington’s bum? It is PEACHY 🍑). No, this all worked out quite perfectly…

That was, of course, until Ethel raised the issue with Cled himself, and was informed with the utmost clarity that Cledwyn absolutely and categorically did not have feelings for her, that he never had, and never would. After a moment of indignation at the extremely blunt and definite nature of Cledwyn’s rejection, she was overcome with an emotion representing relief, rather than disappointment. Her brief infatuation was all but forgotten instantly.

Neither of them ever spoke of it again.
