#Storytime 👉🏼 In Chile, wedding cakes are not just any cake. In Chile wedding cakes are "the wedding cake". A cake made out of flour, molasses, liquor, and fruits and nuts. The cake is always covered by a gum paste layer, and between the gum paste and the cake, there is a layer of marzipan (my favorite thing on earth). The gum layer is always white. Back in the day, this was hard to obtain because it required extra fine ingredients that were expensive to obtain (like refined sugar), so having a white cake became a symbol of wealth.
