lol so wait im confused? are we now unable to write characters of a different nationality other than of my own? i am a black woman and i write people all nationalities (white, mixed, latinx, asian, etc). i am super confused because now i feel super uncomfortable to reveal myself to others ooc if i am going to get shitted on for writing of a different nationality.
omg no , i’m sorry about that anon! i don’t think that’s what that person meant ( if this is what you’re referring to ) ! nationality i believe is defined as the country someone is from / raised in, like french or canadian or spanish. whereas black / mixed / latine etc are ethnicities. for example: an american person writing a british character set in england. and even that is not to say we CAN’T write charas of different nationalities , but without proper research , it can be really obvious sometimes when the writer is not familiar with certain aspects of english culture. hope this makes sense !! thank you for sending this & letting me clarify which i should have done before!
