Kinda basic, but I'd love to see 鳥 in semi-cursive :) Thanks in advance!
鳥・チョウ・とり・bird, chicken
Hey Frank! I was wondering, what is the coolest book you've read?
Oh, uh, the first book I read was "Life Among the Lorrums" and I loved it. Then I picked up "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" and I'm not sure I've ever finished it. I kind of liked the first half of it but I never was sure whether it was any good.
Hello... ! I'm really into cynipid wasps and their galls recently, do you think you could post some?
It’s oftentimes very difficult to find good photos of adult gall wasps! But...I will see what I can find, and if I can’t find adults, I could at least post an array of interesting galls. I’ll do that soon. :)
@kaiyves I got some more discussion on this topic!

it's in andalite chronicles, elfangor describes closing his hooves
Aha! I haven’t read the auxilary books as many times so that makes sense.

Yeah I believe Ax falls into the yeerk pool once and closes his hooves against the sludge
I do remember this scene now that you mention that actually! It’s interesting that the default state seems to be passive/open, and they have to actively think/work to close them. It makes sense though for a species who spend a large part of the day feeding as a side process to whatever else they’re doing/running around for.

it's confusing because like in the oatmeal book there is a whole gambit about how if Visser 3 is in the yeerk pool when the oatmeal explodes in it that he'll be unable to avoid drinking the oatmeal and getting affected by it.
OH yeah see that I think is where my confusion stems from. I definitely remember that scene and this being a plot point. Maybe they knew he wouldn’t have time to close his hooves before he realized and it’d be too late though. Or they hoped some would get into his ear canal when he fell in? Hm.

unfortunately in that same book Ax demorphs in a cave with an inch of bat guano on the floor and I cannot stop thinking about it
oh no oh no OH NO
I mean our boy has eaten some decidedly gross things on purpose (cigarette butts no thank u) but even that is a step too far for him pretty sure!!!
hi! would you care to post some ironclad beetles?
I would! Soon...

ME THE FUCK TOO IT’S REALLY REWARDING...TEENAGERS WORK REALLY HARD TO BE PEOPLE AND THEY DON’T LIKE THEMSELVES...BUT I’M HERE TO BE LIKE I’M PROUD OF YOU....DO YOUR FUCKING WORK BUT I’M PROUD OF YOU...
today one kid was in a class with another kid he routinely got into fights with and he asked the teacher if he could take a five minute breather outside. she said no because she was worried he’d wander off, and I said I’d stand outside with him and make sure he didn’t. she said okay, and me and the kid went to stand outside, and he thanked me for letting him take some space to cool off. I told him I was real proud of him and that it’s very mature and cool to know when you need space and take the time to calm down rather than getting riled up and lashing out when you can feel yourself getting angry in your environment. I’m real proud of him and I’m gonna keep an eye on him bc I hope he’ll be ok.
What animal do you think sums up your personality best?
I’m not sure if I’ll think of this as a type of response, but it’s what I mean by “personal growth” — I get a lot of responses like “well, your voice is rising,” but I feel like I can stay with a person in a way I think some other people (like John and Laura) can’t. That isn’t necessarily a good thing. But I think of it as growing, developing, coming into my own and suddenly knowing what it means to be a whole person, in some way.
