Personally, I have loved working on Etsy. I started on Etsy because it's taken me so long to find time to create my own shopfiy store, but in the meantime, Etsy has been there as a great alternative. But all the new policies they have put in the place over the last few years are to squeeze as much money out of sellers as possible. From forcing makers into paying for off site Ads, to making us feel that we can no longer offer letter class shipping on small items like stickers and patches. At the same time, they hike up their fees by 30%, forcing owners to raise their prices so they can still make a living wage. It's not fair to small business owners, the people who make Etsy as great as it is. The etsy platform is meant to be a tool to help small businesses but the policies they've been putting in place especially during the pandemic have been created to line their own pockets nothing more. I've seen so many artists get fed up with Etsy and abandon the platform. I don't want to have to do the same, I hope Etsy can recognize their mistakes and work with their artists to change and make the platform work to benefit everyone. This strike is to let Etsy know loud and clear that somthing has to change. Hey everyone! As most of you already know, Etsy is increasing their fees from 5% to 6.5% which makes the total fees on Etsy 9.5% along with our shipping rates going up. I have always offered free shipping in my shops, which means now my prices have to go up to reflect the fees and shipping rate increases. It's becoming unmanagable (having to sell furby's for $80 just to make a little bit of profit off the fixing and cleaning that I do) and so I am participating in the Etsy strike from April 11th until the 18th. I may end it early due to finances but I think I will go the whole week. Anyone looking to purchase from me can still check out my Mercari or purchase through my DM's using Paypal's Goods & Services. Available Furby's for adoption are posted on my Instagram, and every purchase comes with a new Adoption Certificate I made with some help from the Furby Training Guide. At 12pm tonight Phoenix Artwork Store on Etsy will be closing until 12pm on the 18th as apart of the #etsystrike to fight against Etsy upping their fees and harming small businesses. We encourage everyone to get involved businesses and customers because it effects us all, for businesses it means we’d have to up or prices to cover costs which means customers will have to pay more.
